Endo Visit this morning - reporting in

Thank you to you all for your support over the weekend. I had my appointment

this morning, with another, different doctor. I've lost count now, but this is

something like the eighth doctor in ten visits. I told him I had three things I

wanted to discuss:

1. Weight gain. 10kg in a year and still going. He says this should not be

happening, but could not offer any suggestions as to why it is happening and

what can be done about it.

2. Ferritin. Despite a telling off from my GP on Friday, the lab had still not

done the ferritin test, but they had done serum iron, which came out low 13

(7-26). I told him that the Clinical Director says I need iron therapy and that

I had asked him to refer me on to somewhere where I can have it. This was of

course not in my notes because it was an e mail conversation, so all this chap

could suggest was iron tablets. I kept banging on about the ferritin and he

told me that ferritin was not within his area of expertise. Actually, he

couldn't interpret the serum iron result either.

3. The permanent sore throat and the recurring lump in the neck are nothing to

do with my thyroid I need to see my GP.

He also told me that 30mcg is a large dose of T3, equivalent to 125/150mcg

thyroxine, but he didn't reduce the dose, which was my big fear, so that was a

small relief.

I told him I was still symptomatic and that my temp is still running at a little

less than 36 degrees. He asked me why I was taking it. He looked a bit

surprised that I was using it as an indicator of my metabolism.

Repeat the usual bloods and go back in June. I have got the appointment for

June, probably because I refused to leave without it, but I am now ready to move

on.
