Guest guest
Hiya!! I don't know what to do so wonderedn if anyone had some advice. I am currently under Dr Skinner who is increasing my thyroxine dose - currently on 100mcg and due another blood test this week. I was wondering about going on to some adrenal support and was going to order the comprehensive adrenal stress profile from genova diagnostics but wasn't sure if it was worth is as I wouldn't know what to do with the results!!!! I know I'll be seeing Dr P but would he find having these results helpful or does he not need this kind of confirmation? If it came back that my adrenal were indeed out of sorts could I just start taking the Nutri adrenal supp. Oh so many questions - I do have his book but my brain just can't take it all in!!! help!! Guest guest
The 24 hour Salivary Adrenal Profile to check your levels of cortisol and DHEA| at four specific times during the day is most definitely worth it. We wouldn't recommend it if it wasn't. When the results are sent to you, post them here on the forum and we will help with their interpretation. Dr Peatfield most definitely would find the results useful, he recommends his patients get this specific tests, especially if they are failing to get better once they have started thyroid hormone. If you are suffering with low adrenal reserve, you must start to treat this before starting thyroid hormone replacement, otherwise no amount of thyroid hormone can be fully utilised at the cellular level. Yes, if the results shows you have low adrenal reserve, you should start Nutri Adrenal Extra for at least 7 days without any thyroid hormone replacement. We do not believe in 'second guessing' on this forum . Too many people cause all sorts of problems for themselves by putting themselves on high doses of supplements their body doesn't need. If you don't get the test done and you are seeing Dr P, you are only putting off the evil day, because he will ask you to get these tests if you are suffering symptoms. Luv - Sheila Hiya!! Guest guest
Thank you so much. It is all just a huge minefield at the moment. I feel a little better on the thyroxine but not right at all. I saw dr skinner first as his appt came up first but looking forward to seeing Dr P in May too. I'll do the saliva test and then let you all know and see whether I should stop the thyroxine and start the supps etc when those results are in. Got my blood test - vit D (as I am deficient) B12 (never had it before) ferritin and tft on Thurs so it will complete some of the pic along with the saliva test. Here goes and thank you for being there!!!!!! > > The 24 hour Salivary Adrenal Profile to check your levels of cortisol and > DHEA| at four specific times during the day is most definitely worth it.
