Guest guest
I have just found last year's results, but they were TSH and T4 only. August 2001 TSH 0.003 (0.5-4.0) T4 17.4 (11-22) Sorry to ask, but has anyone had chance to look at these yet please. Thanks Sue > > Hi,I have had my results from Genova today for thyroid profile. I am still awaiting the adrenal results. > > I was taking 175mcgs Eltroxin and have been for just over 4 years, but was finding my hypo symptoms returning. I'm a little confused as to me the results look sort of OK except a very low TSH. Guest guest
Hello Sue What units are the results in? I note your reverse t3 seems a bit over the range. There is a calculator here but we need to know the units: http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/rt3-ratio/ Chris

Guest guest
Hi Sue, The reverse t3 is too high,,, If you divide the free t3 by the revrse t3 (as they are both measured in mols) you get 8.7. The numer really needs to be over 20, so your reverse t3 ideally needs to be less than 0.25. When T4 cannot be converted into T3 for whatever reason (low selenium, iron, d3, B12, and so on) then it needs to be broken down so the iodine can be saved and the rest disposed of. It breaks down into reverse T3, t2 and T1. Reverse T3 is inactive but it stops T3 from being used as it blocks the receptors. To deal with it, you stop taking the t4 so it all runs out of your system and you take T3 only instead. It takes about 12 weeks for the reverse t3 to clear apparantly..... But you also need to wrk out why the t4 was not converting or when you start taking it again you will run into the same problems. Have a look through previous posts on here and also read Nick Foot's speech which he gave at one of the tpa meetings... http://www.tpa-uk.org.uk/meeting_typed_speeches/nick_foot_2010.pdf Hope this points you in the right direction! x > > Hi,I have had my results from Genova today for thyroid profile. Guest guest
Thanks , So are we saying I shouldn't be taking NDT at all? I had Adrenal results back today and they were all mid range and OK. I still get a biy confused, as couldn't quite grasp why my TSH is so suppressed, when my T4 is only mid range and T3 isn't really high. As adrenals are ok, I'll see if my GP will check all of the other things, although I doubt it. I may get her to do iron etc, but she isn't very forward thinking. Thanks again Sue x > > Hi Sue, > > The reverse t3 is too high,,, If you divide the free t3 by the revrse t3 (as they are both measured in mols) you get 8.7.
