Guest guest
I was under the impression that the British Thyroid Foundation, or some other body , has raised the TSH level to 10,before GPs can treat a person for hypothyroidism.I read with interest the discussion in the ish parliament, concerning this. I asked my GP what levels were being used in my local hospital lab in South London and she said the TSH level has been reduced from 5.5 to 4.7.This sounds like a really positive step in the right direction. So I wonder, is it all down to which lab is used? Do labs vary with reference ranges throughout the country? Also, a doctor in this hospital told me last week that there is a belief that some people have hypothyroidism and it doesn't show on the test and it's best to 'nip the disease in the bud'. So is the message finally leaking through in some hospitals!! I was most surprised and delighted.
