Hi everyone,

I'm interested to know if any of you think i may have a problem with my B12?

A short history, as i am new here(i will try not to ramble!)-

I am a 38 yr old mum of 3.Ie have been struggling with numerous vague and

chronic symtoms for 22 yrs.The worst and most upsetting are-terrible brain

fog,slow mental function,forgetful,balance issues,depression,fatigue,no

stamina,skin/hair issues,and about 20 other symtoms...in the last year i have

been diagnosed with hypothyroid but now suspect that this has been a problem

from the outset (i was mis-diagnosed as having M.E).I strongly suspect adrenal

issues aswell and am awaiting the results of a 24 hr saliva test from Genova.I

am now reading up about B12 and now feel i should add that one to the list

aswell as i have all the symtoms of THAT too!!

Incidentally,i am not taking ANYTHING at the moment as i could'nt get on with

Levothyroxine and so packed it in and i stopped all vitamin supplements a while

back as i wanted to be a 'blank canvas' ready for the blood and saliva tests i

have just embarked on in order to get to the bottom of my problems.Every

doc/endo i have seen has been worse than useless, but i can still make use of

them i guess for the blood tests atleast ;)

My results are as follows-

b12/folate level-

serum folate = 4.7 ng/ml (2.1-20)

serum vitamin b12 = 214 ng/l (180-914)

serum ferritin = 14.0 ng/ml (11.0-307)

total white cell count = 4.3 (4.0-11.0)

RBC count =4.51 (3.50-5.50)

MCV =93.1 FL (78.0-100.0)

MCH= 30.2 pg (27.0-32.0)

MCHC = 32.4 g/dl (32.0-36.0)

vitamin d3 (serum 25 hydroxy) = 55 nmol/L

vitamin d2 ( " " " )= 10 nmol/L

There are lots of others ,but i'm not sure if they mean much or not and i dont

want to bore you!,but plaese let me know if i should look for anything else....

I am booked in for more blood tests that shelia advised me to have,next week.I

am also planning on tackling the hypo with NDT's, but not until i've corrected

any vit/mineral defeciancies and the adrenal issues.I hope this sounds like a

sensible plan as i have given up on the docs and so am going this thing alone.My

ONLY means of getting better,i feel :(

Any advice at all VERY MUCH appreciated!

hugs to you all

hayley x
