Guest guest
Hi Lynne, I seem to always respond to the iron emails.... but I used Nature's Plus Hemaplex and my ferritin was initially 8 then 46 and now retesting tom...it has all the various nutrients needed for the absorption etc etc I find hemaplex to be a great product. I actually took at least 170mg of the elemental iron from Hemaplex daily....and it made a big difference to my hair loss ... I hope that helps. Khush > > I've lost an awful lot of hair to the point where I have to wear hairpieces. Dr P suggested taking Spatone. Here are my latest results: > > Ferritin 26 ug/L (13 – 150) > I know this is still way too low, but it was 18 last September when I first started taking Spatone – I'm now taking 2 sachets a day. > Should I be on something stronger? > > Thank you v much > > Lynne >
Guest guest
Thanks for everyone's advice re iron. I've now had time to read other posts regarding iron, and also 's book has been helpful. Am I right in thinking it's risky to self medicate with more than 20mg of iron a day if the other iron tests have not been undertaken. All I have had is ferritin (see below). My GP refuses to test me unless the ferritin is coming back HIGH, which doesn't help me at all. Any advice on how to approach this. Many thanks. > > > Ferritin 26 ug/L (13 – 150) > I know this is still way too low, but it was 18 last September when I first started taking Spatone – I'm now taking 2 sachets a day. > Should I be on something stronger? > > Thank you v much > > Lynne >
Guest guest
This is a new one. I have never heard of that. You do need to get your iron, transferrin saturation%, ferritin vitamin B12 levels tested, but if your GP refuses and you can only get ferritin tested and that is very low, you need to treat it with some form of elemental iron and usually Ferrous Sulphate, Ferrous Glutamate at 200mgs is recommended, if very low, 2 to 3 tablets daily or you can try Spatone, 1 or 2 sachets. At 26 ug/L only, your ferritin level is still very low and hopefully the 2 sachets will help. Luv - Sheila I've now had time to read other posts regarding iron, and also 's book has been helpful.
