Guest guest
Well its been 4mths since I started my thyroxine and now on 100mcg. Before I started I had been ill for 10ys with 2 yrs completely bedbound with ME. Naturally no one took it seriously and I was just being lazy!! Don't need to explain to anyone on here as you undestand my frustration!!!!! my TSH was 6 and my t4 was 14 - i have 177 tpo. Got my results today as I am now on 100mcg thyroxine and my tsh is 0.4, t4 - 20.5. (theyy won't do my t3) They did my ferritin for the first time ever which is 155 which the gp is ringing me about! B12 is 368 and folate is 7.4 - vit D was 46 back in Nov and still awaiting that result as I am on supplemments. I don't have any hyper symptoms and feel much better. I am under Dr skinner now and he wants me to increase to 125mcg in 2 weeks but unsure if I should now in light of the results. Ive left a message for him. Just wondered what you thought as I'm not 100% at all but much better all round. I'd appreciate your thoughts!!!
Guest guest
Hi Your free T4 is high which is an indication that it might not be converting to the active thyroid hormone T4. If this was me, I would be wanting to add some of the active hormone T3 to my levothyroxine. This would be done by dropping the T4 by 50mcgs and adding 10mcgs T3 (Liothyronine/Cytomel) and after 7 days, if no adverse reaction, would increase the T3 again by another 10mcgs and take this in split doses, 10mcgs when you wake, and another 10mcgs in the afternoon to keep your engine topped up. Have a word with Dr S about this and see if he is in agreement. Your ferritin is fine, it is only when it gets to about 1000 that it is something to worry about but your B12 is far, far too low and so is your Folate. B12 should be right at the top of the range which is often in the region of 175 to 800. You need to start sublingual B12 (Solgar brand is good) taking 1000mcgs under the tongue twice a day until your level has built up and you can then drop it to 1000mcgs daily. You need Folic Acid 400/800mcgs daily too. Has your GP ignored these results??? Luv - Sheila Got my results today as I am now on 100mcg thyroxine and my tsh is 0.4, t4 - 20.5. Guest guest
Thank you Shelia!! Its appreciated! My GP is ringing me Tues regarding the Ferritin only. He said B12 and folate were fine. I'm definately going to start the b12 now I've got the results and folate. I've left Dr S a message with the results but I think he's away till tomorrow. I had the same feeling about the T4 and would like to try to add in T3. Going to buy solgar vits tomorrow!! Thanks for taking the time to reply - it all gets so confusing!! Waiting for my adrenal stress profile results from genova to come back now!! > > Hi > > Your free T4 is high which is an indication that it might not be converting > to the active thyroid hormone T4. moderated..... old messages removed!
