finding a suitably informed endo in ireland

Hi Sheila,

could you please send me your list of 'good' endos. I think you may have tried

to send it around Christmas but I don't think I got it. I live in Ireland and

due to constraints at home and my general health problems it is difficult for me

to travel to UK on my own - we have kids and no extended family here so my

husband can't accompany me to UK. I hope that there is an endo or some

interested medic in Ireland on your list.

I have been in contact with Dr P by phone and he has been very helpful indeed

and my health is vastly improved, but I am still having problems with my

adrenals - although I am on T3 solely and therefore my adrenals should be

improving but I think I need to meet someone face to face to look at the whole

picture.

I have to say that while I am typing this I am feeling very tired and alone in

my search for improved health. I have been avoiding my GP, as although she is

helpful and listens to me, she is clueless about any treatment other than

thyroxine, and the need for the endocrine system to be in balance with the right

vits and mins in order to function properly, so I always feel that I am

defending my position in self- medicating when I see her, even though I am so

much healthier since I have taken my wellbeing into my own hands.

I am taking NAX 4 daily, T3 40mcg daily - 2 split doses, and all the appropriate

vits and mins and serenity cream.

I was doing really well and my hypo symptoms are gone now but my symptoms of

adrenal fatigue are still affecting me and my mood has slipped again so I feel

down and am anxious and quite emotional with any little stress.

Sorry for the moan - I feel a bit better now! It is so good to have the resource

of this site and the community of knowledgeable people to tap into and thank

you for doing everything that you do.

Hello Finola

I have sent you my list of recommended doctors and I hope you

find one that is sympathetic and understands your problem. However, very few

doctors understand that many of their patients suffering with symptoms of

hypothyroidism are likely to be suffering with low adrenal reserve, because

they have never been taught about this association. They only recognise

's Disease (adrenal insufficiency) and never question of how a patient

reaches this stage. Quite appalling. Are you taking high doses of vitamin C

i.e. 3/4000mgs daily to help with the absorption of your Nutri Adrenal Extra?

Check out Dr Rind's Temperature chart to find out whether your

symptoms are thyroid or adrenal related http://www.drrind.com/therapies/metabolic-temperature-graph

and follow his instructions.

When did you last have an increase in your T3 dose? It might be

that you are simply not taking enough. If this has not been increased for

quite a while, you might want to try adding 10mcgs daily, and splitting y our

dose into three and see if that helps.

Luv - Sheila

Hi Sheila,

Thank you for responding so quickly. I understand what you said about endos and

understanding the adrenal/thyroid link and am very cautious there. Anyway due to

your list I was able to make an appt to see a GP/herbalist based in Galway who I

had heard of some years ago and has been highly recommended for other ailments.

After emailing you I had a think about my adrenals and T3 and had a look at

Rs site and read his success stories and decided I would try the Circadian

dosing regime for T3 myself. I took 20mcg at 4.30am and then 12.50mcg at

11.00am and went off to work. I suffered none of the adrenal symptoms which I

would have expected to happen, ie dizziness on standing still ( I usually have

to hold on to something) and mild but noticeable anxiety. In fact I felt like a

'normal person', so good that it was only when I got home that I realised I

hadn't had any problems. I hope it isn't the placebo effect but I will

persevere with it and will keep you posted with events.

Thank you so much.
