Guest guest
Hello everyone I am going to be sending a letter to my GP soon to ask if he will consider prescribing erfa thyroid for me. However I expect a possible response from him will be that he wants me to see an endocrinologist. As I live in Wales I am unable to get funding to go to England and so there is only Prof C D I can see who might be a possibility. I don't live near Cardiff though so don't know if it is an option but was thinking of checking with my GP if I can be funded anywhere in Wales. I understand that Prof C D only prescribes a combination of synthetic T4/T3 but not Natural Desiccated Thyroid. Although I would be happy to try increasing my thyroxine or synthetic T4/T3 combination I would like to feel that NDT was an option with whoever I was referred to and wouldn't want to go through trying everything and then finding the doctor wasn't prepared to try NDT. I just wondered if anyone on the forum who had seen Prof C D had discussed NDT with him at any time and what his opinion was and whether he seemed happy to prescribe it or even if he has prescribed it in some cases. If anyone would prefer to e-mail me privately with a reply that would be fine and I would be very grateful! Thanks very much Love Elle x
