Guest guest
. It also doesn't deal with issues of why I'm tensing my muscles in deep sleep to the point that the pain wakes me up. Hi again, Kath, I wonder if your muscle issues and twitching eyes are down to Magnesium deficiency... Hopefully the blood test will reveal that.... think you can get mag on script as well - at least I hope so.... all the best,
Guest guest
Kath Have you looked at this questionnaire , taken from a book by Dr Thierry Hertoghe? He is an expert on hormone deficiencies. http://blog.saravanan.org/?p=40 I found that the questions - though they may seem a bit generic and overlapping - were quite helpful in working out what I *may* be low in, and the blood tests did correlate quite well to deficiencies confirmed by lab tests. one thing to remember is that even if your tests are 'normal', that doesn't necessarily mean a lot if you have symptoms of a particular deficiency. With thyroid, for instance, we know that people can have symptoms of hypothyroidism, but normal blood tests, but if they are given thyroid hormone, they then improve. why would they improve if they weren't hypothyroid? Symptoms have to be considered, as well as blood tests. Sometimes correcting thyroid can have a knock on effect and correct other hormones, too. In me it was the other round, in that i found that as I treated several things, I got other symptoms (more hypothyroid in fact). chris > > Sorry, I'm very conscious that you're all trying to help me and all I'm doing is saying why those things won't work for me. Guest guest
sorry, typo - sublingual, not a subo (susan boyle) melatonin > > what form of biotonin have you taken? Biotonin - a subolingual form - is very effective for me

Forget what I said , I mixed up statins with hypertensive medication. As Trish said, statins are to lower cholesterol not blood pressure. Thank you Trish for noticing that.Best wishes,
Guest guest
Hi According to the survey I'm possibly or probably deficient in all of the categories. I'm probably deficient in DHEA, Oestrogen, Growth Hormone, Melatonin, Pregnenalone, Testosterone, and Thyroid. I can't say that surprises me. I've tried supplementing with DHEA, Pregnenalone and Melatonin in the past but it never made much difference except for an initial improvement that then tailed off. It's maybe that I need to address everything. Perhaps, for me, once my thyroid is working properly the rest will right it self with a bit of supplementation for a while. I'm not quite sure how to go about buying supplements for Oestrogen, Testosterone and Growth Hormone. I seem to recall reading something that testosterone taken as a tablet doesn't work anyway and it has to be given by injection. I don't know if that's true. Thank you, Kath > > Kath > > Have you looked at this questionnaire , taken from a book by Dr Thierry Hertoghe? Guest guest
what doses were you taking and how? > I've tried supplementing with DHEA, Pregnenalone and Melatonin in the past but it never made much difference except for an initial improvement that then tailed off. > have you looked into vitamin deficiencies, such as vitamin A (as an example)? http://www.hertoghe.eu/patients/pdf/All%20vitamins%20deficiency%20tests.pdf chris
Guest guest
It's maybe that I need to address everything. Perhaps, for me, once my thyroid is working properly the rest will right it self with a bit of supplementation for a while. Hi Kath, I agree with that view in general, except, if it turns out you are hypothyroid, then your thyroid gland will never work properly again and you will have to supplement thyroid hormones for the rest of your life... BUT.... once you have reached your optimal thyroid hormone dosage and take it regularly, then many of your other issues might just disappear and right themselves. When there is a shortage of thyroid hormone (or any other hormone for that matter), other glands try to compensate for the lack of the hormone in question.... so a lack of thyroid hormone – if kept untreated – will in the fullness of time lead to an imbalance of other hormones, like sex hormones for example. Once the underlying cause for the imbalance is no longer an issue, the other hormones might just fall back into line. No guarantees, but there is a good chance. And another point.... it is just possible that your high blood pressure will also `come right' with the use of thyroid hormone. I haven't got any experience if this might happen with the use of the synthetic Levothyroxine, but if you were to opt for a natural thyroid hormone like Armour for instance, chances are high. I know 3 people with high blood pressure who did no longer need their BP medication after they started on NDT... my own niece is one of them. She was in her mid-thirties and had (among a list of other complaints) high BP for the past 10 years with systolic figures of 190 and 200 frequently... once on Armour, her BP normalized naturally and without any medication. But let's first see what your blood results reveal.... With best wishes,
Guest guest
It’s the other way round Kath, once you have addressed all your other hormone issues, plus minerals and vitamins, THEN the thyroid will start to work better once you decide the thyroid hormone replacement that works for you best. Luv - Sheila It's maybe that I need to address everything. Perhaps, for me, once my thyroid is working properly the rest will right it self with a bit of supplementation for a while.
