Guest guest
Thanks! I was wondering why and how I got into this group! Just didn't have time to investigate- but I found the messages informative! Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerry Re: newly diagnosed Hi! I'm so sorry to read about your daughter and understand your confusion but I think you'd be better joining SMAspace on: http://www.smaspace.com/ This group is really for adults. My best wishes to you. > > Hi everyone! I am new to the sma world- my 4 month old daughter was diagnosed with type 1. Her symptoms presented fairly early, at her 1 month visit her pediatrician noted she was " a little soft " . At her second month visit she noted definite muscle problems and referred us to the pediatric neurology department at Columbia (NYC)and said to get in ASAP. We just got her back home, as she spent 5 weeks in the PICU with pneumonia, collapsed lung, g-tube with nissen surgery and then a second collapsed lung. Anyhow- we have been overwhelmed with medical info and now that she is home we are trying to adjust to life with all of her machines (bi-pap, nebs, cough assist, suction etc etc) and would love to chat or meet with other families who have babies going through this- how to cope, tips for getting out with baby, how to let baby live a " normal " life..... we live in greenwich, ct and would love to connect with other families. We don't know anyone who is going through this- we never even heard of SMA until 3 months ago. >
Guest guest
Hi Everyone I am a 57 year old man recently diagnosed with a thyroid nodule and enlarged thyroid picked up from a routine Carotid Artery scan. When I saw my GP he asked if I had any symptoms of under active thyroid when I replied that I was not sure as I didn't know what they were he replied that I didn't have any than, very helpful! He did though do a blood test and send me to a general surgeon to check out the nodule, the biopsy was clear and he (the surgeon) put me on 100 mg of thyroxine. The blood test results were HST 10, T4 13.1 antibodies greater than 600. When I looked up symptoms I am feeling tired all the time just thought that was normal for 57 also the outer edges of my eyebrows have disappeared, libido low. I have been on the thyroxine for a month seemed to feel better after a few days but have slumped back to feeling tired all the time. I have started taking vitamins recommended by Dr Peatfield after reading his book. Is there anything else that anyone can recommend that I do?
