Guest guest
A bit lost here..... are you hypo or hyper? If you're hyper then the ususal route in beta blockers which slow down the heart and hinder conversion of T4 into t3. Estrogen blocks the transportation of thyroid hormone so if you are hypothyroid it will make it worse. . > > My endo has suggested I be put on HRT as part of a total wellness routine to support correcting my hypothyrodism ( 5 times aboove normal)
Guest guest
I'm hypo due to an irradiated thyroid and being transitioned from Levothyroxin to Efra. I have no thyroid gland left to speak of , so I am dependent on replacement of T4 and T3. > > > > My endo has suggested I be put on HRT as part of a total wellness routine to support correcting my hypothyrodism ( 5 times aboove normal) >
Guest guest
Hi Just seen your post - please think very carefully and do a lot of research before even thinking about taking HRT. I was put on HRT when I was just 39 and 20 years on I cannot get off it due to the problems it causes. I did not realise at the time but I believe HRT is responsible for my hair loss, changes in skin and nails etc and has contributed considerably to making my thyroid problem worse. There is a really good book available 'HRT Licensed to Kill and Maim by J ' which may be worth you looking at - also check out the work on Estrogen dominance by Dr. Lee. I wouldn't dream of telling you what to do but would tell you that I am horrified by my experiences on HRT and personally if I could turn the clock back I wouldn't touch it Please be very, very wary of HRT > > My endo has suggested I be put on HRT as part of a total wellness routine > Has anyone here tried it? Any thoughts? > > Thanks > >
Guest guest
OK, fine , but what is the question you are asking. What information do you need to get you on your way and are you under medical supervision being transitioned from T4 to natural thyroid extract, or doing this yourself? Luv - Sheila I'm hypo due to an irradiated thyroid and being transitioned from Levothyroxin to Efra. I have no thyroid gland left to speak of , so I am dependent on replacement of T4 and T3. Guest guest
Having been on HRT for many years I can say nothing but good about it. The hot sweats were horrendous following total hysterectomy so that it does mean I has a sudden menopause. Do read Dr. Peatfield's 'your Thyroid and How to keep it healthy' see our Library. In it he explains that oestrogen reduces thyroid hormone uptake, but prefers progesterone supplementations. As the menopause approaches oestrogen dominance is more likely which is why progesterone rebalances the system. Personally I reduced the oeasrogen and added the progesterone which keeps me far more comfortable that either alone. > > My endo has suggested I be put on HRT as part of a total wellness routine to support correcting my hypothyrodism ( 5 times aboove normal) I am nervous about tyring it due to the split opinion on cancer and stroke risks > > Has anyone here tried it? Guest guest
--Hi, Did the Endo actually explain why he felt that HRT was the way to go? Did the Endo suggest which type of HRT was available - as in NOT JUST Premarin? I was put on HRT after spending 2 wasted yrs being told all my problem was that I was menapausal!! I was on it for 6 wks and felt so ill - I felt bloated as if I was wearing a suit of salty water and very angry and tearful all the time. I stopped of my own volition. I had read about a type of HRT that is more compatable with the body but it was very expensive and not sure available in UK - Bio something?? Speaking to many women it seems that the most common is Premarin - from pregnant mares urine - so that is compatable isn't it??!!! And yet they have a problem with natural dessicated thyroid from pigs! Good luck with your journey. Stacey
