Guest guest
>> I posted last week about my low tsh and ft4, whilst on T3. My gp instructed the labs to perform a Free T3 test, which came back high at 10.6 (range 2.6-5.7). I feel absolutely fine, but the report said I could be toxic ?? I have been taking 25mcg of Cynomel at 7am and 25mcg of Tyromel (the cyprus cheaper stuff) 4 hours later. Any advice please ?? Hi Dawn,Did you take any T3 on the morning of your blood draw? I guess you did, and that would explain your high FT3. T3 peaks in the blood about 2 hours after ingestion.... so there would be nothing to worry about - just explain to your doctor that you had accidentally taken your morning dose. In future remember not to take the morning dose until after the blood letting. If you had not taken any T3 on the morning of the blood draw, then there would be a problem.Best wishes,

Guest guest
Then I bet you had taken your thyroid medication before you had your blood drawn. This happens so often Dawn and doctors get scared believing you are going hyperthyroid, telling you to decrease your dose or drop T3 completely. Sadly, doctors don't know that T3 peaks in the blood 2 to 3 hours after taking it, so your T3 blood test shows very high levels. Tell your doc. that you took it just before your test which was a mistake, and ask him for another test for Free T3 only (without TSH or free T4) and don't take any thyroid hormone that morning. He will see that your level has probably dropped by half. What is very important is, if you are feeling good on your present dose, then carry on with it. You should titrate your dose according to symptoms and not blood test results, which, when anybody is taking any form of T3, synthetic or natural, are of no use whatsoever.
