Guest guest
Hi Miriam Is this for your consultant? If you have Graves autoimmune I’m assuming you are being treated at a hospital? If not you should be! How was the Graves diagnosis decided and what antibody tests were run? Going from hyper to hypo to hyper sounds more indicative of hashimotos disease (or in my case I had Graves AND Hashis) but the symptoms you describe might also be the result of the medication you are on to control your Graves as that can also send you one way and then the other as they try to get you stable? Have antibody tests been done for Graves and Hashis? Have you been sent for an ultrasound? What treatment are you following? I’m all for holistic medicine but if you do have Graves then any natural or complimentary treatments would need to be alongside conventional medicine (like carbimazole or PTU) whilst your levels are brought under control and stabilised. Graves disease is a very, very serious illness that needs to be treated, otherwise it is very dangerous. I’d really recommend the National Graves Disease Foundation in America – they have a moderated forum www.ngdf.org that deals with all things Graves / Hashis / Hyper and subsequent treatment. It really is excellent. Best wishes I've gone from hypothyroid to hyperthyroid (Graves autoimmune) but seem to have a lot of hypo symptoms eg feeling cold, freezing hands, putting on weight...
