With the April 15th tax deadline looming, IRS employees are

feeling the hustle and bustle of an increased workload while the

rest of us are feeling a bit overwhelmed and stressed out at the

thought of filling out copious forms and making sure we haven't

missed a single dollar of tax credits. But, let's face it,

stress

isn't healthy. It causes your blood pressure to rise and can

lead

to or aggravate a myriad of health related problems. To quickly

and easily reduce your stress level, try a bright and beautiful

bouquet or arrangement of flowers.

It probably comes as no surprise to anyone that flowers make

people happy. If they didn't, they wouldn't be such a popular

gift and Americans wouldn't spend so much time planting and

caring for flower gardens. In fact, a recent study conducted by

Rutgers University provided scientific proof that flowers bring

immediate happiness that lasts a long time. In addition, the

study showed that flowers help people to connect with one

another. Dr. Jeanette M. Haviland-, who directed the study,

said of the study, " What's most exciting about this study is

that

it challenges established scientific beliefs about how people can

manage their day-to-day moods in a healthy and natural way. "

Although tax time is a period when many of us are concerned about

money, the good news is that a little-flower therapy can go a

long way and it doesn't have to cost a lot. Your florist can

help

you pick out flowers that suit your aesthetic needs without

breaking your budget. Simply tell your florist how much you're

considering spending, the kinds of flowers you like, and your

favorite colors. If you have a certain space within your home in

mind for the flowers, tell your florist about it. Explain how

much space you have and the color scheme of the room.

If you happen to have an accountant or IRS employee in your life,

think about how a little flower-therapy could benefit them as

well. This is a time of the year when those in the tax industry

spend more time at the office than they do at home. A gift of

flowers could brighten their day and make the office a happier

place to be. Since tax season lasts for a while, make sure you

choose flowers that will last, too. Talk to your florist about

creating an arrangement using hardy flowers that require minimal

care to stay fresh and beautiful for a long time.

This tax season, take a few minutes to take care of yourself

and the people you love-put down the tax forms, pick up the

phone, and order some flower therapy!
