To exclude every cause of HTN by testing in every person with HTN would break the bank. DASHIng will "cure" most of it anyway---and in 2 weeks. Problem is to convince folks that diet will do it. There are very few doctors like you that will leave no stone unturned to get a diagnoses. Most will tell you since I don't know what is wrong I can't help. the vision stuff kind of comes and goes, most days it gets worse as the day goes

on, everything seems to get blurry towards the end of the day

No such luck, I thought perhaps they were aura-like (migraines) but in the

beginning, I only had the vision thing, no headaches.. Now I get a headache now

and then but it isn't one of my main symptoms.

See as I increase the salt, I get eyelid swelling. As in embarrassing... I just

did a fluviral video with my sister (she is a nurse) and we discussed the

vaccine etc. for her patients. I watched the video in horror.... My upper

eyelids are so puffy!!!

No edema otherwise. Eyeball changes as well? I've seen my optometrist and the

vision changed slightly in that eye. I'm due to see an optamologist to see if

he can figure it out. ie. if a pituitary gland tumor could affect the optic

nerve (aldosterone symptoms as well) and they've ordered a second CT scan of the

brain but the radiology tech. suggested an MRI instead so I'm holding off and

seeing if my dr. will order the MRI... My vision flucuates as well.... I had

extra floaters etc. during my pregnancy as well.(supposedly in pregnancy the

estrogen/fluid retention can reshape the eyeball and cause vision changes?) I

had the retina checked two months ago and it appears healthy so far-no

hemorrhaging etc....

Keep me posted

Chantal

I am not talking about HTN. Some of her sx are like someone that has

Sarcoidosis. My brother has Sarcoidosis. Not that I think she has it but is just

one of the things some sx are the same as.

Good. Research suggests that by grading the retinal closely from photos one can predict who will get an increase in BP with age. But most don't do this as it takes special training. Sarcoidosis is a disease that causes inflammation

of the body's tissues. Inflammation is a

basic response of the body to injury and usually

causes reddened skin, warmth, swelling,

and pain. Inflammation from sarcoidosis is

different. In sarcoidosis, the inflammation

produces small lumps (also called nodules or

granulomas) in the tissues.

The inflammation of sarcoidosis can occur in

almost any organ and always affects more

than one. Most often, the inflammation starts

in either the lungs or the lymph nodes (small

bean-shaped organs of the immune system).

Once in a while, the inflammation occurs

suddenly and symptoms appear quickly, but

usually it develops gradually and only later

produces symptoms.

Sarcoidosis usually is a mild condition and

does not result in lasting harm to tissues. In

most patients, the inflammation that causes

the granulomas gets better with or without

treatment and the lumps go away. In others,

however, the lumps do not heal or disappear,

and the tissues remain inflamed. If untreated,

these tissues can become scarred. The tissue

is then called " fibrotic. " But even those who

need treatment can usually lead a normal life.

The cause of sarcoidosis is not yet known—

there may be several. For instance, an abnormal

response from the immune system may

be involved. (The immune system normally

attacks and eliminates foreign substances,

such as bacteria, that enter the body.)

Once thought rare, sarcoidosis is now known

to be common and affects persons worldwide.

In fact, sarcoidosis is the most common

chronic fibrotic interstitial lung disorder.

(Chronic illnesses are those that last for some

time or recur often; interstitial lung diseases

affect the tissue that surrounds the air sacs,

blood vessels, and air passageways.)

TVM Francis,

Is it like the lumps you get on joints and you rub them and they go away?

Is the inflam always in lumps?

Can it manifest just as a sore joint?

Re: test results

Sarcoidosis is a disease that causes inflammation

of the body's tissues. Inflammation is a

basic response of the body to injury and usually

causes reddened skin, warmth, swelling,

and pain. Inflammation from sarcoidosis is

different. In sarcoidosis, the inflammation

produces small lumps (also called nodules or

granulomas) in the tissues.

The inflammation of sarcoidosis can occur in

almost any organ and always affects more

than one. Most often, the inflammation starts

in either the lungs or the lymph nodes (small

bean-shaped organs of the immune system).

Once in a while, the inflammation occurs

suddenly and symptoms appear quickly, but

usually it develops gradually and only later

produces symptoms.

Sarcoidosis usually is a mild condition and

Don't need this info here. Must be some Sarcoid sites folks can go to.Please refer them there. Thanks May your pressure be low!Clarence E. I was on Lisiniprol, but off for a week before the blood work, and on 150 mg of

toprol during the test.

You were on medications and I have no idea if it can affect the lab values. Can't 's or Cushings cause low aldo and renin ? And I know Cushings causes uncontrolled hypertension.I think 's is the opposite. I still think you shoud see an endo.I know how frustrating it is to go thru test after test and have no answers but it is out there and you will find it. An endo knows alot more about this and I hope u can find a really good one who will evaluate you well. Please keep us posted,Lori

I am still going to see an endo, I have been thinking cushing's as well,

addison's causes low bp. do you know how they figure the ARR value?

I am not sure but I know there are alot of folks on here that do. This is all still new to me but a,Val, and Francis Bill seem very knowledgeable and can surely tell you. Dr. Grim would definately know. Cushings has alot of similar symtoms to Conns or PA. There are several support sites. I wish you the best of luck on your road to diagnosis. Lori

Obviously the ratio can change a lot with very low renin like 0.2. If that's

in error say really 0.4 , it halves the ratio.

I question the very low values in my case. Seems getting close to the error

of the test.

How sure are you of the numbers. 1.6\2 gives you a ratio of .8 Ratio needs to be

20 or higher to say you have PA
