Guest guest
There is a lot of truth in those Salt Mine Treatments, saline helps people who have lungs plugged with mucous. Recently my chest specialist asked me to Nebulize with a higher concentrate of saline than normal, the normal saline 0.9% helps to moisten the airways to make the mucous more fluid. The higher concentration 7% actually draws moisture into the mucous and so it can break up blocked areas, evidently this is new....so much for what they knew then in the Salt Mines! I must admit it has made my problem much better. If you know anyone with COPD (Chronic Obstructive Airways Disease) or other chest problems, they should ask their Dr to prescribe this higher concentration, it really can help. SNEEZING could it be allergy to my salt lamp. HI ALLI bought a Himalayan Salt Lamp, and have it in my bedroom for the last two nights. I have also started sneezing a lot which in turn also feels like a cold. I have questioned before if I could be allergic to salt. If this is the case my salt lamp may have to have a new home.If allergic to salt could this be due to having Hypothyroidism. They also say that patients with lung ailments were taken into the salt mines to be cured, but I am not so sure about this now.Kathleen
Guest guest
HI JENNY I have not been told that I have COPD, but the former Husband was. There seems to be something wrong in my left lower lobe of the lung which was thought to be Bronchiectasis, but I do not appear to bring up any of this mucous, so I presume it gets stuck. I think the salt lamp helps me, and the sneezing appears to have stopped. Could you mix Himalayan Salt in hot water and breath it through one of these inhalers that you can buy, or do these nebulizers have more force to them. Can this saline treatment be used on alcoholics. The former Husband was at one time on 3 different types of inhalers, and they had to take him off of them as he said that he was addicted to them, but in turn I suspect alcohol did not go down well with them. Although I want nothing to do with the former Husband again I will send your info to his surgery, and get one of his Daughters to buy him a salt lamp for a present instead of an alcoholic drink. I also have my Nephews family who all smoke which in turn causes their lungs to be bad, and once one gets an infection it appears to stay with them a long time going back and forth. Having suffered so much in childhood I never took to smoking, but my Father smoked until his lungs reached a point where they could not take any more. He damaged the lining of his lungs which in turn went on to cause lung cancer whict took him. I also feel that I suffered from his smoking addiction. I also feel that I married into the wrong family, as there is a lng condition on my former Husbands, Fathers side which I suspect is Anitripsin Deficiency, although grouped together as COPD, which alcohol consuption can also cause, so add both together. He said it is on the male sidebut the males all drank far too much so would be worse. It did exist on the female side, but they did not suffer as much. I would hope that one day children are removed from their parents until they stop smoking, as it is not fair on children.
