Guest guest
I use stevia too - in liquid form, which I buy when I visit the USA. But there must have been some sort of change in the law here recently, as I see they're now advertising stevia on telly, and as a sweetener too, not a food supplement (which used to be the only legal description, as I understand it). I might still be stocking up on American trips though, depending on how expensive the liquid form is here, assuming it's available. I don't trust any of the other chemical sweeteners, they all have nasty possible associations - and they all have a horrid aftertaste as well! Guest guest
Hi, This is interesting re. SPLENDA http://www.splendaexposed.com/ and there is also reference to GRAVES DISEASE seemingly caused by aspartame in diet colas (I have copied the paragraph): Rising From The Grave's Disease Dumais is a 2004 Athens' Olympic Silver Medalist, a Grave's Disease survivor, and aspartame victim. Merely months before the Olympic trials, contacted me for nutritional help in recovering from a diagnosis of Grave's Disease caused by diet colas with aspartame. He read my first book Sweet Poison, followed my recovery experience from my own case of Grave's caused by aspartame, and cured his disease in six weeks (just like I did) by simply removing aspartame from his diet, cleansing, and restoring his depleted nutrients. His recovery from a "false" diagnosis of Grave's Disease came merely months before the 2004 Athen's Olympic Trials. But, like me, did really have Grave's or merely aspartame disease? Guest guest
Hi, I spotted Stevia in my local Asda supermarket, yesterday. It was with the sugar, it was powder form and about £4 something,,,,,, x > > I use stevia too - in liquid form,
Guest guest
I did use Splenda briefly, and it's not bad for aftertaste - but I discovered that the name 'sucralose' is a clever piece of marketing to make it sounds like a sugar product that has magically had the calories removed. It's real chemical name is 1,6-Dichloro-1,6-dideoxy- & #946;-D-fructofuranosyl-4-chloro-4-deoxy- & #945;-D-gala\ ctopyranoside. And it seems to have just as many health concerns as the other artificial sweeteners. > > > > > I use splenda theres no asparatin in them and no nasty after > taste x
Guest guest
Is it really just Stevia without anything else added? We had a discussion about this on the chat group and no-one had found any plain stevia in the supermarket like you can buy online. Miriam >> I spotted Stevia in my local Asda supermarket, yesterday. Guest guest
Here's another review of sweeteners, from the Weston Price website: http://www.westonaprice.org/modern-foods/sugar-free-blues Miriam > If you use some sort of sweetener or diet drinks, soda etc. please read > the following. > http://www.askdrhull.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=1096 > <http://www.askdrhull.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=1096>
Guest guest
I haven't seen this product yet, but I've bought stevia powder in the States which was extremely strong, so I don't know if it had fillers added. The amount equal to a teaspoon of sugar was measured in a tiny little scoop that came with it, about the size of half a small pea! If it's in a box and you measure it out in teaspoons, then it's definitely got bulking ingredients in it. The liquid I use, 1 drop equals about half a teaspoon of sugar. I've also tried using raw stevia leaf powder, but it has a rather strong taste, a bit herbal, which didn't really work for me. (It's greeny-brown, looks like henna powder). --- > Is it really just Stevia without anything else added? > >> I spotted Stevia in my local Asda supermarket, yesterday. Guest guest
I have just ordered - Organic Coconut Palm Sugar - has anyone here got any experience with it? > > If you use some sort of sweetener or diet drinks, soda etc. please read > > the following. > http://www.askdrhull.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=1096 > > <http://www.askdrhull.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=1096> >
Guest guest
I've seen this advertised on TV recently... it might have 'filler'-type stuff in it... seems a little suspect. True Stevia (which used to be available here) was apparently banned some time ago. I get Stevia (there are many brands and many different types, i.e. fine powder, granulated with other helpful things, liquid, flavoured liquids) from the US and wouldn't use anything else for sweetening. As an indicator, just look up stevia at amazon.com to see what's available - I also use Vitacost.com (they have really good stuff). > > I haven't seen this product yet, but I've bought stevia powder in the States which was extremely strong, so I don't know if it had fillers added. Guest guest
Hi Has anybody used this and what is it like? It seems natural enough. http://www.healthmonthly.co.uk/now_foods_better_stevia_original?category_id=0 & search_string=stevia Margaret > > >> > > I use splenda theres no asparatin in them and no nasty after> > taste x>
Guest guest
Yes, I use something almost identical - same brand but different label. Maybe they changed it. Anyway as I understand it, it's concentrated stevia extract and perfectly natural. My in-laws don't like stevia because they like things *very* sweet (they're American!) and if you use enough to do that, you start to get a flavour from it, a little 'cooling' and licorice-like, I'd describe it. I put 2 drops in my cocoa and it's equivalent to 1 teaspoon of sugar. It's very subtly different from sugar but really not much. > Has anybody used this and what is it like? Guest guest
--HI, I posted on here a while ago now when they started advertising in mags and on tv. I have been using pure stevia for over a year and usually buy it off eBay - when I saw this I thought great I can buy it locally in a supermarket and cheaper? I then read the ingredients - which STILL included chemical stuff and thought what is the point - surely the point of stevia is that it is a natural plant based rather than nasty chemicals. Please search the new sweeteners with stevia and you will see for yourselves and significantly produced by the big multinational fizzies company! Stevia - pure - is fine and has to better than a lot of chemicals for those of us who like a little sweetness in our lives. Stacey
