Guest guest
Hi Alison, I have only good things to say about Optimum...although not cheap! I live in Cheshire and have done all my consultations on the phone...I have only done the nutritional side of things with them and have to say they have really tried to get on top my own Adrenal problems and now tackling the Thyroid issues. I would give them a call...my nutritionist is Lesley McLauchlan, who actually had ME herself, so she has been great. And you hang in there, you will recover from this awful illness. At my worst (1998-2000) I was little more than a breathing corpse, lying in darkness for best part of 2 years due to light sensitivity, spoon fed, bedpans, the lot and I have just got back from a week's ski ing in Italy. The main things that helped me pre Optimum (18months working with them now) were pacing, amitriptylene low dose for sleep problems and pain management, energy management, deep relaxation techniques and about a year pre Optimum the Amygdala Technique. Also trying to hang on to hope...and I know how hard that can be sometimes. I started a blog a while back...very out of date now as I have started to live my life again but it may help www.understandingsevereme@....Hope that helps a little!Lots love c x From: alison4509 <picnic@...> thyroid treatment Sent: Friday, March 9, 2012 1:30 PM Subject: Re: Advice re Iodine please! Hi ,I don't have any advise about iodine but may I pick your brains about m.e. and the optimum health clinic - I don't want to sap your energies but would really appreciate some info. I've also had a diagnosis of m.e. and severe adrenal problems. I've had this for 2 years and have been bedbound pretty much 20 hours a day.I thought of arranging a phone consultation with Optimum as I couldn't travel there but wasn't sure how much a distance consultation would help.I'm wondering:did you visit Optimum for a course or use their phone consultation?how long did your recovery take?how long did you have m.e. for?Any help much appreciated - I'm getting pretty desperate now.Best wishes Alison
Guest guest
, we are finding more and more people who have been given a diagnosis of chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia and ME start to regain their health after starting using the active thyroid hormone T3, either the synthetic version or in natural thyroid extract. All of these can be symptoms of hypothyroidism. Doctors have a habit of giving these diagnoses if thyroid function test results are returned anywhere within the reference interval yet patients to continue to complain of symptoms. This might not be the case with you, but it will be interesting to try the experiment. Guest guest
Alison, you said you were diagnosed with ME and several adrenal problems. What treatment did they give for your ME and for your adrenals? Are you still on treatment. How were both of these diagnosed, i.e. blood tests, short synacthen tests, 24 hour urine/saliva tests??? ME is a symptom of hypothyroidism and is normally treated with the active thyroid hormone T3. Luv - Sheila I've also had a diagnosis of m.e. and severe adrenal problems.
