Guest guest
You can make your own " Magic Oil " by dissolving some Epson salt in very hot water and then adding this saturated solution to your favorite skin cream or emu oil. Kirkmam's Lab also has a topical/trandermal Magnesium product. mjh " The Basil Book " _http://foxhillfarm.us/FireBasil/_ (http://foxhillfarm.us/FireBasil/) Most people can take the protein bound forms of magnesium like aspartates and oratates. There is a new product being sold that many have had good success with it is called Magnesium oil - this is applied to the skin or used in the bath for soaking - the magnesium is absorbed through the skin and several have said they got good results with none of the side-effects of taking it by mouth (the problem of stomach problems comes mainly from the oxide form). You can Google - magnesium oil - the Wolfe Clinic in Canada sells this as Magic Oil. Source Naturals has a product that uses several forms of magnesium and I have heard good things about that (don't remember the name) - but it can be found at the Source Natural web site. Guest guest
Hi V, Thanks for the suggestion. I have also used Magnesium Sulfate Cream from Kirkmans's, and Biogenics Magnesium Lotion from Dr. Healy's. That comes in an oil too. I inject Mg daily, and Orally, I take Magnesium Glycinate Forte from Labs...w/L-Carnitine, Coq10, Taurine. I seem to tolerate them all. I like mjh's plan, but have not done it. Guest guest
Hi Vicky Magnesium oxide is not very bioavailable to the body so is probably not too bad (Think Milk of Magnesia from when you were a kid)... Really absorbable stuff would be Metabolics or other Ionic stuff.... How much are you giving? I would suspect if he is doing good and his bowels are soft he has been suffering a bit from this (eg been a bit bunged up), so perhaps been a bit too hard (poohs) and hard (difficult) for him to pass. Have you done a clear out recently/ever? I would use oxypowder (Mandimart) - for the looseness element which seems to be helping him (this is Magnesium Oxide too). I use Magnesium malate - 140 mg (Evenings - I am actaully going to stop this and go completely to Mag Citrate) and Magnesium citrate (Thorne, dont buy from Nutricentre, bloody rip off, tell me if you want I send you some from Cally, I have millions!!) with meals (I think this helps us with possible oxalate problems) I use 2-3 caps per day spread out... Oxypowder is one of the best products I have EVER come across and been doing this a lotta years and changed products a LOTTA times!! I am just about to start using it again, in fact cant really remember why I stooped it now.... God I talk too much... PS This Magnesium stuff is critical for us with impacted kids which in my opinion is most... Jiggle it by, first clear him out, use tonnes of probios, then get him on maintenance dose of oxy (one a night for most or half), if you adding in other Magnesium get him loose then gradually (very!) cut back til motions just OK... Oh Yes, Love me bowel talk dont I just!! Lotsa Love and Big Hugs Caroline xxx
Guest guest
Thanks ladies, I think it harks back to the days when he used to have permanent diarrhoea, tend to think loose bowels and are not a good idea, but could be the case he does need a clear out, because his gut is now really one fairly firm movement a day, and he is just so happy with himself. I'm also wondering if he suffers from trapped wind and the magnesium shifts it along. He has always had these sudden screaming episodes, goes from very happy and content to out of the blue screaming and big tears, always having to guess with a non verbal child. The enzymes really helped in reducing his reflux and not allowing any jumping around or fried, this reduced the screaming so obviously pain is often at the root cause of it. We did do oxypowder Caroline but he just got too loose, very good with though who is often constipated, and yes I do remember milk of magnesia from childhood that and Malt, yea gods it was a miserable time lol. Will stick with the higher dose which is 2x 180mg had been doing just once a day, and see how he gets along. Thanks Vicky
Guest guest
We are using Magnesium Oxide, which is the best for a loose child rather than constipated? >>I like Magnesium Chloride - as in Ionic - its has other benefits over just providing Magnesium, helps with gut bugs, immune system etc. Tastes salty - needs to be well diluted, buzz me later about it Mandi x

Guest guest
Just read it again. Maybe he feels better although he stinks. ie maybe his bowels are making him grumpy and the good effect is having diarrhoea and not being constipated Sally veronicamadigan wrote: I have upped 's magnesium and we have a very happy, jolly conected boy, BUT he stinks, mega wind, am expecting a huge blow out any minute now. Guest guest
I have Swanon Ultra Mag Oil (no affiliation). Yes, it stings and can be itchy annoying. I try to put it on at least once per day. I can literally feel something especially if I apply directly after a sauna treatment. I feel an energy shift. I have tried oral supps and it’s my GI tract just can’t deal, even with ½ doses.. I will try the lotion next to see if it’s any less annoying to use, but I def recommend it to all. I don’t know what my levels are but many of the Organic Acids test indicated a need for it. Best - Wendi Wendi Carrillo From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of kachinacreek Sent: Monday, September 28, 2009 12:36 PM Subject: Magnesium Steve & Janet, I'm sure Rich will have some great input for you about this and I also wanted to let you know that Pall speaks to the significance of magnesium for CFS and other illnesses in his book " Explaining Unexplained Illnesses " and in his posts to the group 'The Tenth Paradigm Society'. Many of these posts are saved in folders in the Links section of that group. He may have also posted the information on his website www.thetenthparadigm.org but I have not checked. Also, in the Links section of The Tenth Paradigm Society there is a folder on the Pall Protocol in which there is another folder on Magnesium. Dr. Norm Shealy is a huge advocate of magnesium and has much to say on his website which is www.selfhealthsystems.com, look at the Archived Newsletters, Shealy Protocols and Optimal Recommendations. He says that a person can restore magnesium in 10 2 gm IV applications (about 2 weeks), magnesium chloride lotion 2x/day (about 4-6 weeks), or oral supplementation of magnesium taurate (6 - 12 months). His double blind research studies resulted in a conclusion that only topical magnesium chloride also raised levels of DHEA. Dr. Shealy's Magnesium Lotion is the best priced transdermal magnesium out there unless a person makes it themselves. His lotion delivers 150 mg per tsp and is recommended to apply 2 tsp 2x/day. The lowest price on that can be found at www.springvalleyherbs.com. Dr. Shealy also sells the lotion and magnesium chloride crystals on his website to use as a soak or to make Mg oil. The lowest price I have found on USP magnesium chloride crystals is from Bulk Reef Supply (yes, that is an aquarium supply company) and other folks have purchased it from Get Tanked though I do not know if their product is USP. I found this recipe on Earth Clinic: 1/2 C Magnesium Chloride Flakes 1/2 C Boiling spring or distilled water (water source must be free of chlorine, etc.) Put this in a spray bottle, it is a one week supply. 8 sprays delivers about 100 mg of elemental magnesium. It can sting or feel sticky to the touch so it can be further diluted to help with the stinging. Can be washed off after 20 minutes if desired. I have purchased some of the Mg crystals and when they arrive I am hoping to make a lotion rather than the oil and foresee agonizing over how to figure out how much Mg is in one teaspoon. Not a strong point of mine :-) Amber > > > Hi Rich, Kurt and All, > > > She entirely missed by extreme need for magnesium ... Guest guest
It is hard to explain, Steve... I just know that I feel a bit depleted usually after I come out of the sauna and I shower then spray it all over my torso. I feel a physical shift of energy inside like I was feeling rough one second and serene the next; just better.. It's so hard to explain. I don't get that shift lately. I got it in the beginning. Maybe this is a sign of normalizing or optimizing, but not sure. Wendi Carrillo Re: Magnesium Hi You say you experience an energy shift after a sauna Can you splain that? Guest guest
Could you look at high mag foods..  Highest is Cocoa, then oats and then nuts such as soaked cashews... I believe...We have similar probs with Zinc in our son and have to use rich zinc foods rather than supps and he seems better with them.. I think it may be something to do with a more complex mineral structure in the foods.  Best Wishes    Tracey On Mon, May 10, 2010 at 5:13 PM, veronicamadigan <MaddiganV@...> wrote:  What brand of magnesium are people using?Anyone recommend for sensitive child, used Kirkman mag oxide before seems intolerant so any suggestions?TIAVicky
