Guest guest
1 Has there been any mention of the Nature Throid tablets from Inhouse Pharmacy not working or lacking any active ingredients, since the new year? No, I have never even heard that Inhouse Pharmacy had mentioned such a problem ever. Are you sure you are talking about Nature Throid? Nature Throid is a natural desiccated thyroid extract that contains all the thyroid hormones, plus calcitonin and as far as I am aware, there has never been any question this. 2 Is there anywhere i can still get Armour Thyroid. Other than International Pharmacy.com where they do seem to be available but are so expensive. Too expensive for me. Have you checked our reputable Internet Pharmacies in our FILES SECTION i.e. look in the FOLDER entitled 'Internet Pharmacies'. Armour is getting more and more difficult to find through Internet Pharmacies and for those who used to get it prescribed here in the UK, they can no longer get this as Forest Pharmaceuticals are no longer exporting it to Europe and the UK, so most people are changing to Erfa Thyroid/ 3 Can anyone tell me if they know of any 'good' Drs in my area, Axminster Devon. We are not allowed to mention Doctors names on the forum without first asking their permission. I will send you a list of doctors recommended by our members. You may need to go outside of your area - which you can. Since having to change from Armour to Nature Throid when the problem with reformulation and unavailability, my health hasn't been as good, but tolerable, and was so up till starting a new batch in Feb. A lot of people do not do well on Nature Throid unfortunately, but others are fine. However i just got my blood results back. (Unfortunately T4 TSH only Grrr!) and it was TSH=14.84 and T4=7.6 No wonder i feel so lousy. Muscle/Tendon pain and tense, feel like they are ripping from the bone; teeth becoming loose again and aching; eyesight rubbish, etc etc etc. Ouch! Obviously your thyroid extract is not working for you, but there could be several reasons for this. Please check the attached document and go through this carefully. If you are suffering with any of these, thyroid hormone cannot be properly utilised at the cellular level until whatever you are suffering from is properly treated. What dose are you taking and when was this last increased? I asked the new dr (i just moved to Devon Nr Axminster)if i could get Armour on prescription, he said categorically No. This is correct, Armour Thyroid cannot no longer be sourced by Pharmarama or Idis World Medicines. However, doctors can prescribe Erfa Thyroid, Nature Throid and Westhroid for those patients who cannot regain their normal health on the licensed levothyroxine-only. BUT, it is up to individual doctors whether or not they are prepared to do this, because if problems are seen to be caused through prescribing unlicensed drugs, a doctors insurance doesn't cover them. Natural thyroid extract has been used safely and effectively for over 120 years and was the only medication for hypothyroidism for over 50 years before synthetic levothyroxine was manufactured. I even conceded that i'd be willing to try a trial of T4/T3 combination. Again NO. All he suggested was to double my Nature Throid. Which of course isn't going to help if there is a problem with the tablets. You need to write to your GP setting out various things and ask him to place the letter into your medical notes and keep a copy yourself. First, list all of y our present symptoms and signs. You can check these against those in our web site www.tpa-uk.org.uk under 'Hypothyroidism'. Next, take your basal temperature for 4 or 5 mornings before getting out of bed in a morning and list these if they are 97.8 degrees F (36.6 degrees C) or less. Next list all of the tests you need which should include TSH, free T4, free T3 and ask for the results of these to be made available to you together with the reference range. List the specific minerals and vitamins you need testing to check their levels to see if any of these are low in the range. If any are low, no amount of thyroid hormone can be fully utilised at the cellular level until whatever is low has been supplemented. These are iron, transferrin saturation%, ferritin, vitamin B12, vitamin D3, magnesium, folate, copper and zinc. In the document I have attached, you will see a list of just some of the references to show the research and studies that have been done to show the connection. Again, ask for these results to be made available to you (you can then post them on the forum and we can help with their interpretation). Next, tell the GP that you want a second opinion as you are not prepared to go on suffering from somebody experienced in the field of endocrinology and would he therefore please refer you to Dr ******* (your choice). Last, remember to ask him to put this into your medical notes and to let you know when it would be convenient to go for these blood tests. I have got the busiest month ahead and at the moment can't see how i'll cope. I have 2 very physical jobs... Help! Love and Light Jane Give us the medications/supplements you are taking right now Jane, how much you are taking and when they were increased. Also, have you ever been tested to see where your cortisol and DHEA levels are at four specific times during the day or tested to see whether you are suffering Candida?
