Guest guest
I have sent you my list of doctors recommended by our members and hope that this helps. Your GP sounds appalling and he should not be doctoring. I would write a letter to this man who calls himself a doctor. First, tell him that you are no longer prepared to continue to suffer symptoms and that you will now do everything within your power to find the cause, and that you hope he will work with you (as he is supposed to do under 'The Duties of a doctor Registered with the General Medical Council). I would actually remind him of that. First, list all of your present symptoms and signs. You ca\n check these against those in our web site www.tpa-uk.org.uk under 'Hypothyroidism'. Next, take your basal temperature each morning before you get out of bed and before you have anything to drink for 4 or 5 mornings and list these if they are 97.8 degrees F (36.6 degrees C) or less. Next, list any members of y our family who have a thyroid or autoimmune disease. Next, list the full set of thyroid function tests you need which should be TSH, free T4, free T3 and tests to see whether you have antibodies to your thyroid. These are TPO and TgAb. Tell him that you are aware that there are specific nutrients that should be tested to see whether any of these are low in the reference range. If any of these ARE low, no amount of thyroid hormone can be fully utilised at the cellular level until whatever is low has been supplemented. These specific nutrients are iron, transferrin saturation%, ferritin, vitamin B12, vitamin D3, magnesium, folate, copper and zinc. Ask for the results of all these tests to be made available to you, together with the reference range for each of the tests done. If he tries to tell you that there is no association between low levels of these, then copy the attached to show him just some of the references to the research/studies that have been done to show that there is. Next, ask to be referred to an endocrinologist, preferably of your choice, as most have little experience about the thyroid function and have diabetes as their specialty. Last, ask for your letter of requests to be placed into your medical notes and keep a copy for yourself in case you need to use this at a later date. Let us know what happens, and good luck. As this man has treated you so badly and so carelessly (if not dangerously) if he refuses any of these, I would then take it further. But we will meet you on that road if and when this is needed. There is light at the end of the tunnel and we will help you find it. Luv - Sheila Hello, Where can I find a GP in Pembrokeshire (Wales) who will prescribe a T3-T4 combination ? I moved here from overseas with my prescriptions, including a T3/T4 prescription due to my Hashimotos (30 years of taking it). He wants me to take T4 only (levothyroxine) alone which has never worked for me. I have gained 40 pounds since October, have swelling depression, lost hair, blurred vision, severe fatigue, headaches, and lack of concentration. For instance, I can no longer read a book. He has thrown up his hands at me, and says I can self-dose with the T4 only, adding an extra quarter levo pill daily if I feel I need it. Yet I know I am not a T4 converter to T3, he thinks this is rubbish. He also said that perhaps if I filled the prescription at a different pharmacy, eventually I'd come across a brand which worked better for me.. imagine hit and miss for months and months, but no joy I am sure. what a silly idea. Please help.. I'm unemployed and likely to stay this way because I am no longer " myself. " No virus found in this message. Guest guest
Some people on here are starting to use this supplier on ebay. I ordered 120 tabs and they put an extra 30 tabs in for me, so even at 120mg a day (2 grains) there is over 2 months supply for just £15 or thereabouts. It is NDT, rather than T4 and T3 combo but it should be better than T4 only. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Thiroyd-Natural-Desiccated-Thyroid-60mg-120-Tablets-FR\ EE-Registered-Shipping-/320858009186?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0 & var= & hash=item76c1c10\ 9a7#ht_1560wt_1139 2 > > Hello, > Where can I find a GP in Pembrokeshire (Wales) who will prescribe a T3-T4 combination ?
