Guest guest
Hello, this is my first post. I am completely fed up (to put it politely) with my GPs. For 23 years I have been continually had thyroid test which came back normal! I went to an endocrinologist for weight because I cannot lose any. He left me with his students, so I told her all of my symptoms (the list was exhaustive) and when my blood tests came back 'normal' he diagnosed me with Sleep Apnea and Depression. I went back to the GP who lost his temper with me and he even confirmed that the lump in my throat was an enlarged thyroid. Still no scan!!! and a prescription for antidepressants. Last August I started to see Dr Skinner and I am now on 300 micrograms of levothyroxine a day and starting on ERFA as well, making it up to two grains by end of april. My GPs agreed to put my levothyroxine on repeat prescription. I answered the phone to the surgery yesterday, and I have been told now that the Doctors will not prescribe 300 micrograms as it is too high a dose. They have also said they will want to see blood tests to confirm. I have repeatedly stated that I present with normal blood results (albeit Dr Skinner has still not had my results from the blood tests Professor K a year ago!) My main question is does anyone know of a Gp in the Coventry area who is symathetic and will give me prescriptions for levothyroxine and maybe ERFA (as Armour is not being imported into this country anymore) Sorry for the length of my question, I am continually left in tears with my GP as they are completely archaic!!! I am ok at the moment because I can get prescrptions from Dr Skinner, but what do I do when he retires. Also any clues how long it should take to get a scan on my thyroid as it has finally been requested???
