Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I've been reading for several weeks but this is my first post. Two questions: 1. I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's nearly 20 years ago and have been on Thyroxine (pretty successfully for 18 years). Would you expect a blood test would show thyroid antibodies at this point? I had just assumed my thyroid was essentially dead by now, but a recent doctor (not an endo) expressed surprise that I didn't show much in the way of thyroid antibodies. 2. Can I possibly get the list of doctors in London? The same doctor as above thinks my T4 is fine but that my T3, while within range, is a little lower than he thinks is ideal. Since I've been thinking about asking to try some T3 anyway, it might make sense and my current (about to be former) (private) endo doesn't believe in it. Many thanks,

Hello - having been diagnosed with Hashimoto's over 20 years ago would almost certainly have killed off any thyroid tissue by now. Thyroid antibodies see your thyroid gland as public enemy number one and set about its complete destruction. Antibodies are specific to particular organs, and once they have done their job and destroyed that organ, there is no need for them any more. 2. Can I possibly get the list of doctors in London? I have sent you privately our list of NHS and private doctors who will prescribe T3, either synthetic or natural thyroid extract if T4 monotherapy is not giving them back their normal health.
