Guest guest
Hi everyone, I have high cholesterol - early days bloods were taken to see if symptoms were to do with thyroid - they always came back 'normal' and was always told my chol was high. Very early days was put on statins for 6 months and my hair thinned out. Don't take now. Even in leaflet they hand out on cholesterol it mentions thyroid issues in there. It is not rocket science (and Sheila put an interesting link in a thread earlier) so whu do they fail to understand that treat the underlying probs to bring it down. So - would be interesting to see - just put if you are hypoT etc and whether you have high cholesterol? Thanks Stacey
Guest guest
I have refused many times to take statins saying that until my thyroid is functioning properly my cholesterol will remain high. They are quite happy to dish out statins which have many side effects but seem to resist increasing thyroid meds ??? We should all try to find medics who are fellow sufferers!!! Guest guest
I am hypothyroid but have low cholesterol, which is apparently much worse for your health than high. Maybe the right thyroid treatment will correct this - I'll let you know! Miriam > So - would be interesting to see - just put if you are hypoT etc and whether you have high cholesterol?
