Hi,

I've posted previously but lost my digest number, sorry / Sheila.

Briefly I was diagnosed as hperthyroid in 1996, had a partial thyroidechtomy in

Jan 1998 and I've been on 100 mcgs levothyroxine pretty much ever since.

Constant low iron and B12, although my doctor has now addressed this. I had an

iron infusion in Dec 2010 and my serum ferritin seems to be staying at 47 ug/L

(15-200). My doctor also has me on B12 injections, my last one was Dec 2012.

Still feel extremely tired, chronic lower back pain, feeling cold, constipation,

foggy brain, poor memory etc etc.

I recently went to a different doctor who agreed to do most of the tests

recommended on this forum except thyroid antibodies & copper.

Here are the results

" Serum TSH level " 1.46 mu/L (0.40 - 5.00)

" Serum free T3 level " 3.83 pmol/L (2.60 - 5.70)

" Serum free T4 " 14.7 pmol/L (9.0 - 19.0)

" Serum Iron level " 12.1 umol/L (9.0 - 30.0) " Transferrin Level " 2.3 g/L (1.8 -

3.8)

" Transferrin saturation index " 21%

" Serum Vitamin D " 14.4 ug/L (>25) " Low "

" Serum magnesium level " 0.81 mmol/L (0.7 - 1.0)

" Serum alkaline phosphates " 61 u/L (30 - 150)

" Serum Albumin " 37 g/L (35 - 60)

" Serum calcium " 2.22 mmol L (2.10 - 2.60)

" Corrected serum calcium level " 2.28 mmol/L (2.10 - 2.60)

" serum sodium " 137 mmol/L )136 - 145)

" Serum potassium " 4.1 mmol/L (3.5 - 5.4)

" Serum creatinine 68 umol/L (53 - 97)

" Serum Urea level " 2.3 mmol/L (2.5 - 6.7) " Low "

" Serum total bilirubin level " 8 umol/L (3 - 21)

" Serum ALT level " 6 u/L (10 - 35) " Low "

" GFR calculated abbreviated MDRD " 78 mL/min (> 60)

Serum ferritin " 47 ug/L (15 - 200)

" Serum vitamin B12 " 558 ng/L (150 - 620)

" Serum folate " 7.5 ug/L (3.1 - 19.9)

I have another list of test results relating to FBC, but not sure if you need

these, the two that are listed as either high or low are:

" Mean corpusc haemoglobin (MCH) " 32.1 pg (27.0 - 32.0) " High "

" Red blood cell distribut width " 11.4 % (11.5 - 14.5) " Low "

My doctor has said that all the above results were within the normal range,

except my Vit D, she sent me for another test at the hospital which turned out

to be PTH (I didn't know what it was til I got there and I'd eaten in the

morning and didn't go until 12 noon as I didn't know what the test was. the

result is:

" Serum parathyroid hormone = 43 ng/L

Today I've picked up a prescription for Vit D - 15 Colecaliferol 20,000 unit

capsules, there were no directions with the capsules so the pharmacist rang my

doctors and was told that I can take the 15 and I quote " all on one day or

spread over a week " whenever I feel like it, it seems? " After a month arrange a

blood test for calcium level and discuss further treatment with doctor " I'm sure

someone on here can advise me more specifically.

Please have a look at my results and I will be grateful for any suggestions as

to what to do next?

Thanks
