Yes they're seeing lots of good things with the use of Methyl B-12 injections. You Can check out the Autism Research Institute site or Dr. Neubrander's website ( I can send you link if you need, can't find it right now) Dr. Neubrander's been at the forefront in running trials/research on the effects of this and did a great report at the April 2004 DAN Conference

We have taken him off Concerta. He is still on Risperdal and Prozac (1/2 tsp). We have started giving him vitamins with B12 in it. Has anyone tried that and seen anything? It has been two days and Collin has not hit a kid. He is still hyper and cannot focus but these last two days has been different. I probably am speaking to soon, but I can see some difference.

CB is on the "Kirkland Cocktail " and we have had wonderful results. His behavior has clamed down so much that is was able to move to the "typical "kids classroom.

Now, it doesnt cure autism, but it does cut down alot of the behaviors. Our " cocktail " is B12/magnesium/folic acid (for the hyperativity) DHG and Omega 3 oils( he hates that one LOL ! ) Hope this helps !

Check out the following: Rhode B, Arseneau P, B. Vitamin B12 deficiency after gastric surgery for obesity. Am J Clin Nutr, 1996: 63: 103-109. Thanks for your input and for the article. I had been working at a different bariatric clinic and they had their patients take vit B12 sublingual and B-complex. I know the other dietitians are on board as far as these recommendations go, but I need to present some information to the surgeons. If you have any other information that would be helpful let me know. Thank you.

I take a B-12 supplement twice a week. The B-12 in

sea vegetables and fermented foods is often analog and

cannot be absorbed, so I think that it is safest to

take a supplement. Before the days of

over-sterilization, I'm sure all of our veggies were

covered in B-12 and nobody had to worry about it, but

we live in different times now and it is necessary to

live in the real world as opposed to the ideal one

(while still trying to make it ideal, of course).

Hi ,

I am a very old member of our wonderful Stills family, I have been in total

remission for almost five years, I keep up with the group but very rarely

answer anyone. I think it is more for everyone who is hurting so much and don't

want to waste anyone's time. But, I have what is called pernicious anemia, it

is when your body can no longer absorb B-12. You have to take monthly

injections of B-12 for the rest of your life. I developed it right before I

became

so ill with Still's (I was very, very sick for 14 years).

I just wanted to let you know that the B-12 is very important to your body

and it is very strange that it would give you a reaction. Maybe it is the

brand, most have fillers.

B-12 can cause tingling of the tongue, feet and hands, it can affect your

coordination, after several years of not having B-12 in your body you become

schizophrenic and eventually die if it is not taken care of.

Make sure you have your doctor keep regular checks on your B-12, when they

do your blood work they can check the levels of your B-12 for just a few

dollars, insurance usually covers it.

I felt exhausted and my tongue tingled like crazy, I was almost deplete of

B-12, when they finally figured it out.

Let your doctor know that you feel you had a reaction to the brand of B-12

that you took, and ask for a suggestion.

Hope I helped a little, just stay on top of it!

Thank you Dottie. I will talk to the Dr about my reactions. I could tolerate

feeling that way for a few days if I did a monthly shot...but every day just

isn't going to cut it. I'll let you know what happens!

Thanks,

in TX

I think someone is beginning to admit failure....

.... in that vitamin B12 testing has been shown to be highly suspect in older

people ......Antibodies to Intrinsic Factor make your vit B12 look too high,

thereby masking a deficit !!!!!!!!!!!

ie if your vit B12 HAS BEEN HITTING THE BUFFERS ON THE LOW END OF THE

RANGE....that indicates you may, in fact, be well below requirement for Vit B12

....oops

Big bucks failure....again
