Guest guest
Hi Phyllis, This is Mike from central PA., and I know what you mean about the site. Reading the messages others post at Zaplist, and the stories they tell are like therapy. It seems like the vast majority of us don't have support groups in our areas. The more you learn about your condition, and the conditions that others deal with the easier it is to cope with your own. I lived in Racine Wisconsin from 1992 - 1996, was a Navy Recruiter then. Not sure how far you are from there? Beautiful State! Well, just wanted to welcome you to the site. Take care and stay healthy. Mike PS Enjoy your vacation! Guest guest
The more messages I read from the is what I have needed for a long time. This is the best help I have received and have gained a little more confidence. Phyllis New Member Date: Fri, 9 Jun 2000 08:42:24 -0400 (EDT) Hi, I am glad (?) to see that there are people in our age group (30-45) who are dealing with this. I was 36, exercised regularly, no smoke, no drink, and had this happen to me after doing yard work and falling in the shower (has anyone else have an attack occur in the shower?). I had mine implanted in 9/99 and now am on betapace to control PVC and VT. It's frustrating to not be able to exercise as much as I used to, but am glad to be alive. I am always worried about the my lifespan since the ICD has only been around less than 20 years. Guest guest
Reuban I did better than that I had SCA immediately after taking a shower at the gym. Fractured my ribs on the drying bench as fell and was laying on the tile floor until the medics came. When I came too someone was yelling for gods sake cover him. Things got worse that day, but I made and have had my ICD since Aug 1997. Seems like yesterday. Guest guest
Hi Amy, I See that you sport a zapper also & have ventricular tachycardia. Same for me. There's one thing that gets me which is about the RX I take--called Tambocor. I found it to be very uncommonly prescribed. Anyone else on this medication? I realize that everyone is different & their bodies react differently; but I do know that this drug is very controversial. Just curious if anyone else has knowledge of this RX. Take Care,

If you have anything you want to post to the list, please feel free, its been a bit quiet on here recently ! all the best for now Ian listowner [] New Member Hi all My name is Dave I am a CMT who has been around a bit. Just finished 18 years in the Corps. I am developing a business in the industry with some colleages but due to the nature of the work that is best left in the dark. I have extensive experience in all of the worlds remote areas and I have a specialist interest in penetrating trauma. I have worked with other nations medical resources and have trained in the USA with one or two agencies. I am interested in developing realistic medical training simulations for use on courses and as diagnostic evaluation. These simulations can be taken to any situation out of hospital. And I am not talking about your G10 cassim kit for those cynics amongst you. Just like to say hi to Davy Gunn and Simpson. Guest guest
Hello Abby, I have had Achalasia for over 10 years now and have been through all the surgery's . My latest was the esophagectomy done at Cleveland Clinic by Dr. Rice who specializes in achalasia. Even though things are better there is nothing to end the misery of achalasia. Here are some pics. of my surgery on March 21 of this year. PhotoPoi nt (Guest Mode) - Free, easy photo sharing and photo gallery
Guest guest
Hi - I'm glad Procardia works for you. When I tried it, my bloodpressure is low, so I felt faint all the time. What else have you tried for the chest spasms?
Guest guest
Hi- How are you doing? I saw the pics from your surgery. It looked pretty rough . Eventually, I'll have to have one too. My general surgeon was all set to do it around Sept. 18th, but after my consult with the cardio-thoracic surgeon, I decided to wait. I'm 40 (same age as the C-T surgeon) he thought I should wait if I could til I was older. I can still eat, though I can,t eat a whole meal at at time. How did you feel post-op? Can you eat better than before? Did you have a gastric pull-up or a colon interposition? I've heard a great deal about the Cleveland Clinic. I work in an operating room, and the surgeons I work with wanted me to go there when I was first diagnosed. I found a great surgeon here not far from where I live. I still may go there if I can no longer eat,and must have the surgery sooner than I would have hoped or liked. Stay in touch. PS: Do you have reflux now? Guest guest
Hi, Barb! Welcome to the group, although we all wish there weren't a need for a community like this! Still, misery loves company, and more than anything else, this has been a wonderful way for those of us who have suffered with achalasia in silence to shake the feeling that we're suffering all alone. I was amazed when I read that you've had achalasia for over 30 years! How old were you when you first developed the symptoms? (Yes, I know - I'll be able to figure out how old you are now!). How old were you when you first were diagnosed? You say you've had it all - the treatments, the surgeries, the medications. As an " old hand " at this, it would be great to hear your success stories (hopefully there are some) as well as those that didn't work the way you had hoped. Any tips you can share for coping with the disease are always appreciated - what works for one may help someone else. And if you'd like to recommend - or issue a warning! - about any hospitals or specific physicians you've dealt with over the years, that would be nice, too. Thanks for joining us! Guest guest
Hi , Welcome to our list. I believe that you'll really love it. I'm glad you love LL. Who would imagine losing weight and inches just by breathing and stretching. No more jarring of the joints, I used to do aerobics, step aerobics, squats, lunges, wt lifting etc. Yes all of that helped me but it messed up my knees and they'll never be the same. LL is so relaxing, effective and energizing at the same time. What kind of eating plan are you on? Wow 50 lbs loss! That's wonderful!!!!!!! Guest guest
Actually, ever since I started doing the LL, it's amazing the things I don't eat anymore. I will admit that when I started (for the first month) I noticed some difference on myself, but the scale hardly changed. I used to be a major cola drinker. One day in April, I decided that I didn't want to drink it anymore and decided to start drinking water. That was the hard part. Giving up the cola was easy. It was the taste of water that bothered me. But, I kept at it and am now a 'water junkie'. Drinking water was like knocking down the weight barrier. I also take some nutritional supplements that seem to help. Right now, it's like my body is stalemating. I ordered Workout videos 1 & 2, plus the Strechband video set. They should be here by Friday (I hope). Hopefully this will help. Also, I can't wait for the CD that Rashelle is working on. Doing a workout in the car would be GREAT, especially when I'm on the road 4 days a week, 2 to 3 hours (not all at once) a day. 8'> Does anyone know when the release date for that is? stevku@... on 10/30/2000 11:39:00 AM Please respond to LifeLiftegroups LifeLiftegroups cc: (bcc: I Simar/SAE/RDC) Subject: Re: New Member Hi , Welcome to our list. I bought the piracetam from International Anti-aging Systems. I checked the inactive ingredients on the web site. It seemed ok. I do get this type of reaction from alot of different things. But I was surprised this did it. Please let me know if another brand works for you. Thanks Judy
Guest guest
Hannah--
Hi! Absolutely! The positioning of your feet can have EVERYTHING to do with knee pain.. If your feet aren't hitting the ground correctly, your knee will not act correctly.. and it will all trickle up.
A lot of my problem is caused by a tight hamstring and achilles tendon... Because they're too tight, my foot " slaps " the ground, and it sounds like I'm stomping around.. I had surgery to loosen the tendon (along with 'scope my knee), and it's made a world of difference. Have it checked out.. That's my advice.

E-mail me if you want any more advice.

Dreamer1184@...

~
