Guest guest
> I know that I've read it on the forum before, but not sure where to find it again. I believe the recommended daily dose for vit C is 500mg twice a day and proabably even double or triple that as recommended by others. However, I remember reading of a way to get the optimal dose was linked to just having enough to give you the urge to empty your bowels. Could someone remind me of how this works, i.e. how the dosing works and how you check this is optimal? Hi , Yes, you are correct. The dosing is up to you, but I would spread it evenly throughout the day. If you put in too much in one go, your body will just excrete the excess. I use "time released" Vit C from Lamberts, but any Vit C is fine. Too much C will make your bowels loose. So when you start getting the runs you'll know that the dose is too high for your body and you need to cut back. I usually take 2000 - 3000 mg per day, more when life gets a little stressful (Vit C is taken up by our adrenals like a sponge) and also more when I have a cold or some other infection. No hard and fast rules - just use what your body can take without a problem. One exception... if you had serious kidney problems (like stones). In such a case you'd have to be a bit careful with taking large amounts of Vit C. with best wishes,
