Vitamin C dosing

Hi

I know that I've read it on the forum before, but not sure where to find it

again. I believe the recommended daily dose for vit C is 500mg twice a day and

proabably even double or triple that as recommended by others. However, I

remember reading of a way to get the optimal dose was linked to just having

enough to give you the urge to empty your bowels. Could someone remind me of how

this works, i.e. how the dosing works and how you check this is optimal?
