Hi there, I am new to this site so please bear with me. I am a 46 year old

female who has made a good recovery from Severe ME.

Recently had full Thyroid profile test through Optimum Health Clinic, using

Genova Diagnostics. Main cause for concern very low Total T4 50.6, whilst other

results all within optimal range ie TSH 1.3, Free T4 14.3, FT3 4.36, FT4:FT3

ratio 3.3. Thyroid auto immunity within optimal range. My adrenals are being

supported through Adrenal Rebuilder, vit c and selenium.

Clinic has put me on Iodine supplementation to rectify underactive thyroid

problem as they see it, using Biotics Liquid Iodine Forte, currently 16 drops

through the day, total 2.4mg Iodine per day. Also now using Himalayan Crystal

salt on food.

Iodine patch test a week after starting these supplements lasted over 24 hrs.

Great I thought. Progress!. 5 weeks on iodine patch test repeated lasting only

12 hours. Very confusing.

Can anyone advise whether I should be taking more or less iodine to support

Thyroid.

I purchased Dr Peatfield's book which stated that one should never take in more

than 150mcg per day! Whereas his speech re iodine from TPA meeting on 24 april

2010 at Alma Inn (got from TPA site) states that 37.5-50mg is a far more

realistic dose! I also read somewhere that if you take in too much iodine then

it kind of back fires on you and it can make the thyroid underactive.

I am very confused! Any advice/help would be much appreciated from anyone who

has the time to help out!

Thanks for reading, x
