Guest guest
Hi all, At last - have seen my first enocrinologist today! Quite disappointed as STILL NO DIAGNOSIS (despite raised thyroid peroxidse antibodies! However, he has agreed to give me a 10 week trial of thyroxine 50mg and says he is sticking his head out as my TSH is only 2.68 (my symptom list is very long!) He justified it by saying someone called Spencer someone says you can treat some people if over 2.5. It was a real unexpected turn-around at the end of the consultation. I should be chuffed but I am a bit confused now as he says he cannot say I have hashimotos, even though the antibodies are between 300-600 when they have been tested. He says it does not mean they are attacking my thyroid gland. I showed him my Genova 24 hour urine test which the T3 was in the red at 364 (ref 592-1850). He said it holds no weight as it has not been validated. I am pleased to have the thyroxine but think I have problems utilising the T3 according to the Genova Urine Test hence I am worried about taking it. He said that it can cause atrial fibrillation (I already have lots of missed beats and slow pulse) plus other nasty things as well apparently. Personally I would rather just go straight to NDT but have this dilemma now as to cooperate, if it improves things it would hopefully satisfy them that I have a thyroid problems. The other concern is I am worried incase it messes up my adrenal glands as I don't think they are good. Any advice please? x
