Guest guest
N.S., I will leave the schizophrenia question to those with experience. However, in all cases, we would not decide on training plans until we had done an assessment. The training plan is based on brain pattrns + what th trainee wants to change. Check out the assessment section of the website, www.brain-trainer.com. There is a link there to where you can download the assessment files. Foxx Panic Attacks My name is N. S. Srinivasan and am from Chennai, India. I am new to Neurofeedback and learning about TLC. I have recently acquired Pete's signal designs for BE. Dear Pete, there are a couple of questions - 1. What would you advice me to do for a client with panic attacks and very poor comprehension skills? 2. Is it possible for neurofeedback to help people with Schizophrenia? nss

I've had achalasia for about six years and wonder if there is a connection. Anyone else had this? This is an interesting topic. I don't remember if it has come up in this group before. We did once discuss the topic of sleep paralysis, (something different). Panic attacks can mimic achalasia, chest pain, choking and nocturnal choking. Most attacks are in the day time, but some people suffer "Nocturnal Panic Attacks", which can be different from other panic attacks. There is some thought that breathing problems while sleeping, like sleep apnea, can lead to Nocturnal Panic Attacks. People may be having these and not know they have a name. If you describe your's other may relate to that. Achalasia seems to have some link to depression and stress, so it would not be surprising that panic attacks also have some connection. Sometime after I started aspirating at night I had some very creepy events. Hard to describe and not classic for a nocturnal panic attacks, but it was also a very bad time in my life and it makes sense that they were. notan

Then I had on quite a heavy dose of Burts Bees. All evening it felt like my mind was leaving me and it was nothing like brain fog. I hear ya. Could be die of or just toxic overload from to many chemicals. In Light Lynn > > I have seen the words panic attacks, anxiety, stress... So many times in the last few days. Guest guest
Many of us have and have these attacks from mixing to many chemicals, organic or not, so we are breathing toxic air all the time. I know my house makes me feel ill from all I have done in here. I open the windows and air out whenever I can. Windex is one of the worst, but really helps , so be careful. I always sprayed it with a mask on and left until it dried, then aired out. When you feel like that, go for a good walk in the fresh air or just sit outside for a while. The spaciness should go away. Guest guest
Butyl Cellosolve is a chemical that is found in a wide variety of household cleaning agents - glass cleaners, oven cleaners, general degreasers, spot removers, air fresheners, and carpet cleaners, among other things. It is a colorless liquid with a sweet, ether-like odour and is manufactured by the Eastman Kodak company. But why should you look out for it? It is also known as butyl glycol, Dowanol, Bane-Clene and ethylene glycol monobutyl ether (EGBE), which has made it on to the list of California's toxic air substances, and some animal studies indicate that it produces reproductive problems, such as testicular damage, reduced fertility, death of embryos and birth defects. In humans, it can irritate mucous membranes and cause liver and kidney damage. Butyl cellosolve is also a neurotoxin that can depress the nervous system and cause a variety of associated problems. Sounds like something we should be using around our house, no? So let this serve as yet another example of a dangerous toxic chemical that is prevalent on our grocery store shelves. Before you buy a cleaning product, be sure to read the label and look for this ingredient under one of its " pseudonyms " above. Ideally, you want to avoid toxic cleaners at all, but if you cannot, be cautious when using anything with this ingredient in it! > > > > > > > > I have seen the words panic attacks, anxiety, stress... Guest guest
Anybody tried Bach Rescue Remedy drops for this? Works like a charm for me for panic, anxiety, stress, extended crying, shock, anger, frustration - all the " overload " responses. It's a homeopathic formula in drops (my favorite) or spray for sublingual (under the tongue) dosing or can be added to a little water & swallowed. The drops dose is 4 under the tongue, but I've taken a dropperful at a time when needed with no problem. Used it for 20 years for myself & family, birds & animals with great results. My vet uses it for herself & her patients & I always carry a bottle in my purse " just in case " . Great for the little aggravations (like running late or a cranky boss) as well as the big ones. Used it so long I know my reactions & the dosage that will work within a few minutes. Can be taken by adults as often as every 20 minutes if needed till the full effect kicks in. The manufacturer's taken to calling it " yoga in a bottle " & I can attest to its rapid calming & centering effects. I buy it at the health food stores or Whole Foods' supplement section. Comes in a formula for pets & children without the alcohol in the original. If you're sensitive to alcohol, you can add it to a little warm water & wait a few minutes for the alcohol to evaporate before drinking. I am sensitive to most alcohol (except vodka filtered through that mountain of charcoal), but I have no trouble with it. Here's a good explanation: http://www.preciouspets.org/newsletters/articles/bach.htm Higher dosages - as the books I have discuss: http://healing.about.com/cs/floweressences1/a/rescueremedy.htm More technical: http://healing.about.com/cs/floweressences1/a/rescueremedy.htm The website doesn't tell you much besides where to buy it but googling will turn up lots. http://www.rescueremedy.com/ Amazon has reviews http://tinyurl.com/nexjgv This site seems the cheapest by far http://tinyurl.com/kj7lzz Might want to give it a shot! Regarding that " wierd feeling like my mind is leaving me " , Rush - I've known that reaction for years as an allergic & chemically sensitive individual. Driving down the road in Spring, I could see a cloud of pollen approaching that I couldn't avoid, turn off the ventilation & still be thrown into another dimension immediately as the pollen\ passed. Other odd situations as well. Can't stay in a fabric store more than 20 minutes or the formaldehyde fumes from the cloth finish gives a similar but less intense effect. For me it's an allergic or toxin reaction - or both. The Rescue Remedy drops help in both types but don't stop the effect, just my emotional response. Why I avoid the chemicals so carefully. Can't go into a carpet store at all for the finish on the carpets, also formaldehyde. Formaldehyde is even in toothpaste! I use Boiron's Sabadil tablets (like m & m's, melt-in-your- mouth) for the allergy part & get myself to fresh air if I run into volatile toxins. That totally spaced feeling is a bummer I try hard to avoid! Best wishes, Sue One thing I forgot to mention/ask. Alot of my anxiety comes when I get this weird feeling like my mind is leaving me. Guest guest
Sounds like you're chemically sensitive as well. And some are more aware of outgassing toxins by smell, taste, reaction. My biology teacher in high school didn't believe my response to formaldehyde, either. The " specimens " for dissecting stayed in a barrel of the stuff & I had to to stand at the end of the table & crack a window to keep from passing out. My lab partner did the hand work & I did the cataloging. Aced the tests but got a D for my suffering. Teacher told me I was just being " girlie " . Had he switched places with me he would have known otherwise. That class was right before lunch which I couldn't eat that whole semester. Taught me that nobody knows what you experience that's uncommon but someone else who's lived the same. That some " normals " will believe you & others dismiss you out of hand. My folks thought I was faking it, too. Until a doctor turned up allergy & massive chemical sensitivies in me a few years later... I'm vaseagull for central Virginia where I live & a favorite bird, or as Bobby would say, Sauna Sue and OrangePlus Sue. Always saw my reaction to the mitemare as a toxic situation requiring detoxing & not retoxing. No alternative in my case but to pursue nontoxic environmental, internal & external solutions. I've been fortunate to find them & rebuild my health. My environment was under control as soon as I hit on what worked here & my body shortly after. Came down with this last July & found my way out of the woods by mid October, with no bites, crawls, whispies since then. The actual healing has taken longer, but I babied myself and never experienced any strong (uncomfortable) herx. I'm the only one I know of who bypassed the typical medications (iver & antibiotics & such) and pesticides & went straight to the detox, herbal & homeopathic remedies. Others have employed similar strategies after the typical ones & found their way clear. Best wishes, Sue One thing I forgot to mention/ask. Guest guest
Thanks for the personal account Sue. I agree- detoxing one's system (on many levels) is vital, in regard to curing this problem. Takes great bravery, and fortitude, to stick with it as well. Guest guest
Panic attack? Nothing a few shots of whiskey won't address. Get yourself a small flask to carry indiscreetly. If we didn't live in such a puritanical, politically correct dictatorship this ageless tradition would go without saying. > > One thing I forgot to mention/ask. Guest guest
I prefer vodka! On my last panic visit to this time I went to the firestation. There was a bar nearby and I debated because I didn't want to be acting all weird in the bar, but I asked the medics a out it and they said a drink would escalate the attack. I do think it works to keep them from coming on at leastSent from my iPhoneOn Sep 5, 2009, at 11:37 PM, buggeredbymites <no_reply > wrote: Panic attack? Nothing a few shots of whiskey won't address. Guest guest
I'll drink to that Rush! I like a shot of Stolis chased with a decent German beer, like Becks. There's no way in hell I'll ever start dropping happy pills. > > > > One thing I forgot to mention/ask. Alot of my anxiety comes when I > > get this weird feeling like my mind is leaving me. Guest guest
From: Walter Wiese <docwiese7@...>Subject: Panic attacks Date: Saturday, November 12, 2011, 10:26 AM Thank you for every-ones replies. However, for every reply, we have tried to no avail, which I believe was due more to the chemistry changes from the TBI accident. Adrenal builders, Hormonal balancing (Thyroid), Hypnosis, Essential oils and now Bach Flowers again. She is now in a hospital, she signed herself into getting one on one therapy and group sessions. She will also be having outside therapy once she is released. I was hoping there was some magic treatment other then drugs, because I have seen to many commit suicide by getting hooked on those types of drugs. Guest guest
I would highly recommend spending some serious time listening to and studying the work of Eckhart Tolle. Best anti-anxiety program on the planet... Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, everyone. Guest guest
I concur with Dr. Ann. The writings of Eckhart Tolle are powerful. It takes some effort but studying his concepts of the mind pays huge dividends. Great stuff! Happy Thanksgiving! Guest guest
Hi there could having an under treated under active thyroid be reasonable for my panic attacks? They started after I had my first child and I was later diagnosed with hypothyroidism and post natal depression.I also had terrible haemerroging a few weeks after the birth too.I have never ever been totally well in nearly 16 years and now with the diagnosis of fibromyalgia I am trying to get my head round all this. Will I ever be well again? Ali
