Guest guest
My GP has agreed to test the following: Transferring saturation Ferritin B12 Vitamin D Magnesium Folate Copper Zinc and TSH, T4, possibly T3 (if the lab agrees to it). I was amazed, I was expecting her to only do the basics. All in all it was a fairly good consultation. I told her that I respect her as a GP and in return would like her to respect my new found knowledge and understanding of hypothyroidism. I said that my goal was to reach optimal good health. I informed her for the first time that I have been self medicating since September 2011 with NDT, she appeared shocked at this and raised the concern that a suppressed TSH may result in osteoporosis and apparently this has been proven, I need to research this further. Any guidance on this very welcome. I asked her if she would agreed to monitor me if I decide to continue to self monitor. She replied that she would wait to see what the blood tests show and agreed to discuss it further. So I have an appointment on Wednesday to have my bloods done and we will take it from there. I became very emotional during the consultation much to my embarrassment but I guess it was just all my emotions and frustrations flooding out. Should I stop taking thyroid meds and vitamins and minerals until I have my blood test on Wednesday? Annie
