Guest guest
Morning all! A couple of questions and an update - Was hyper, took RAI just over 4 weeks ago, with the dose designed to make me hypo. For the last 3 weeks I've been temperature-taking (only found out about it 3 weeks ago), and my morning temp started at about 36.5 or 36.6. Its now gone down to 36.3 for the last 4 days, but I'm 17 days into my cycle (and on HRT). How low should I expect it to go naturally, and its there any wisdom on how low would suggest that I'm beginning to go hypo? Second, I would like to talk to someone who really knows their stuff with regard to nutrition - obviously I'm thinking of Graves/thyroid at the moment, but I've a suspicion that it could be a bit more general. I live just north of Bristol and Bath, so if anyone can recommend someone (or a " steer-clear " ), I'd appreciate it. I'm reluctant to self-treat as I don't understand all the interactions and symptoms of toxicity etc. Doesn't need to be a registered doctor, just someone really good. Update: saw the endo last week. Spoke about the T4 and that I didn't like it with the block-and-replace regime. Talked about T3 - she doesn't like the idea - but said that she does use it occasionally but would want to do so alongside T4. Still got " if necessary (ha ha), we'll try it (T4) and see " , but it is now very clear that to me it is a very temporary trial, and I know that she isn't completely against T3... I also raised the idea of nutrient/vit deficiencies and she said she would do some tests - not sure quite what, I mentioned the standard list, she did a lot of clicking on forms. She said that they may not do any iron tests, as my last FBC showed that I was within range and not anaemic (don't know numbers, sorry, I was more worried about neutrophils, but I do know that Luecocytes(?) were a bit low). Is it true that any " iron problems " would show up as anaemia? Has anyone else had this? I'll post results when I get them. Love this sunshine - Cath
