Guest guest
Hi everyone Can anyone answer this question for me ? Are GPs obliged to see patients before authorising blood tests. Our surgery is a madhouse, late appointments, letters sent to the wrong patients etc. My husband has low B12 and folate that wasn`t treated and he didnt know it was low.Possible inherited thyroid problem.Compiled a simple explanatory letter to the doctor asking for a blood test request form for all the necessary tests.Trying to avoid a face to face appointment that would achieve nothing further than what was asked for in the letter. No blood test form provided after a week, asked for explanation,he is sending a letter asking us to make an qppointment !! Chrissie
Guest guest
Hi, I don't know if this helps, and it depends on the surgery, but I recently just booked an appointment with the nurse and took in a list of things I wanted tested. She didn't query it but did say the lab might not do everything. My answer would be, just try it. What is there to lose............ > > Hi everyone > > Can anyone answer this question for me ? Guest guest
Hi Chrissie, Maybe GPs have different practices but my husband called the GP office and said he needed to make an appointment for a thyroid blood test because he was going to see a specialist and needed the blood test beforehand. It worked, and he didn't need to see his GP first. I also had my blood drawn at the GP without seeing the doctor first when I needed blood for a test that I purchased privately. Not sure if that will help, but maybe it's worth a try. good luck. > > Hi everyone > > Can anyone answer this question for me ? Guest guest
They put a big notice in our surgery that if there is no blood test form there will be no blood test. So doctor has to write out a form. We now no longer have the hand written red form, it is printed out so there is no way anything can be added to it.
