Guest guest
Have you considered that your symptoms are coming from adrenal fatigue? If you are suffering with adrenal fatigue, thyroid hormone cannot be properly utilised in the cells until it has been treated. Hi Sheila, > > Thank you for your response. I am still feeling tired despite taking 3 grains of Nature Throid, initially felt well, now feeling very tired again. > > I had an adrenal stress profile in August last year at the advice from Dr. Peatfield, at this point I was taking a combination of Nature Throid (1 grain, I think) and thyroxine (100 mcg). My results were as follows: - > > Cortisol levels - > > Sample 1 - Post Awakening 16.0 Reference range 12 - 22 > > Sample 2 - (+ 4 to 5 hours) 19.0 ELEVATED " 5.0 - 9.0 > > Sample 3 - (+ 4 to 5 hours) 6.5 " 3.0 - 7.0 > > Sample 4 - (prior to sleep) 1.9 " 1.0 - 3.0 > > Total daily cortisol levels 43.4 Range - 21 - 41 nmol/L. > > DHEA levels > > Sample 2 (am) 2.23 Reference range 0.30 - 1.00 > > Sample 3 (pm) 0.53 " 1.0 - 4.0 > > DHEA cortisol ratio - 3.18 " 1.0 - 4.0 > > Dr. P interpreted these results for me and concluded that the rise in Sample 2 was probably due to me not eating regularly that day. Dr. P did not recommend any treatment other than to eat regular meals. Since my appointment with Dr. P in September 2011 I have stopped taking Thyroxine and now take 3 grains of NDT. Do you think it would be worth doing another adrenal stress profile? > > Many thanks for your help, > > Annie > > >
