I know that Golfview had some significant financial issues in the recent past.

One of our local agencies, Glenkirk, has a number of residents from Golfview in

various programs...I do not have specifics about quality or the violations but I

can try to get info.

Does anyone have information about Golfview Developmental Center?

It's an ICF in Des Plaines.

It appeared on an Illinois Department of Public Health list of nursing

homes with violations for the 2nd quarter of 2008. I don't know how

to interpret the list and so don't know how significant the violation

was for which Golfview was cited.

Ellen,

Golfview told us today that they have an opening for our 20 year old

son who is autistic, has severe cerebral palsy, is severely retarded

and has behavior issues. We've concerned about any placement since he

won't be able to tell us what's going on.

My wife and I would appreciate any information you could provide. One

of our former respite workers worked there for a brief time and she

was not enthusiastic about Golfview. I'd be very interested in

hearing information about the violations and also any feedback from

parents who have or had children there.

Hi Jerry:

Here is what I have found out about living facilities in general and Golfview in

particular...

You can check on the website of the Dept. of Public Health to see if any

facility has existing citations or fines...my source does not think that

Golfview currently has any special restrictions (aka fines/citations) but you

should double check on the website.

You should visit multiple times and you should consider a trial stay for your

son and see how that goes. I would also check to see how family friendly they

are...in my personal opinion, you want your son living somewhere that is very

open to your visits...you are another set of eyes and administration should

welcome your involvement and commitment to your son's safety and well being...

Certainly, the feedback you got from one of your respite workers is valuable,

especially if that person can be more specific about what was not good about the

place. I don't know of anyone living there...does anyone else know of any

individuals living at Golfview?
