Joyful Learning: Meeting the Needs of All Learners in the Inclusive

Classroom

Too often a " one-size-fits- all " approach is used to design lessons

leaving some learners struggling to participate and leaving teachers

feeling they have not reached all of their students. In this

interactive session, participants will apply principles of

differentiation by exploring a number of collaborative, active, and

brain-compatible learning techniques aimed at engaging students and

making learning joyful. The session is appropriate for teachers in K-

12 classrooms and is structured for participants to experience these

active techniques through demonstration.

This workshop hosted by the Champaign County Down Syndrome Network is

for all interested teachers, parents, therapists, administrators or

other professionals. The workshop is from 8:30 am – 3:30 pm with

registration beginning at 8:00 am. It will be held at the Hawthorn

Suites, 101 Trade Centre Drive, Champaign. It is near the

intersection of Neil St. and Kirby Ave., south of the Mac's.

Parking is across the street from the hotel. Participants will

receive 6 CPDU credits for attending. The $50 fee includes lunch and

the book, You're Welcome: 30 Innnovative Ideas for the Inclusive

Classroom. For more information visit www.champaigndsn.org, call
