Hi all:

I just had to share something good...

Noah is taking a self-defense class aka Karate at Trinity University,

as I have mentioned in past posts. I have been struggling as his aide

since I just cannot seem to remember the various sequences and moves.

I finally asked one of the students, someone Noah had taken a class

with in the past, if she would have the time to do some tutoring

sessions with Noah. She also took Karate as a child.

She didn't hesitate for a moment and handed me her phone number.

When I called to set up a time, we agreed that weekends would be best

for both our schedules and that next Saturday, Oct. 4th would work

for all of us. Then she did the most amazing thing...she

said, " Since it is homecoming, why don't I do a practice session with

him, bring him to the cafeteria to have lunch with me and then take

him to some of the games; football, soccer, whatever he would like.

I was totally speechless.. .as you can probably tell, not a normal

state for me.

Sometimes, when you least expect it, an angel appears.

We know our loved ones with disabilities are worthy and capable of

friendship.. .nice to know others validate it from time to time.

Boy, don't we wish we could clone this wonderful young lady!

But I do think that there are so many untapped possibilities among " typical "

people in the community...

This situation reminds us that sometimes all we have to do is start the ball

rolling and it will pick up speed on it's own...
