Guest guest
My son's bond hearing went as well as could be expected. I was able to speak to the state's attorney and inform her of his medical history. I was not allowed to speak to the judge. My son's bond was set at $1500, of which I had to post $150 to get him released, and he has a trial date of Nov. 20th. I do plan on getting him an attorney. My thanks to everyone who responded. , I'm sorry to hear about the bad experience you had at Streamwood. I think my son would definitely not benefit from that type of environment... in addition to being too old (23). Diane, I'm sorry to hear about your son's suicide attempt, and glad you seem to have found a good doctor for him. Would you be willing to share the name of that psychiatrist? I had found an excellent doc last year, but then she left the practice, and I haven't been able to track her down. It is extremely difficult to get these kids medicated correctly. Steve's bipolar was brought on by being on an SSRI alone, which can occur in those people who are prone toward it. I will be contacting Mr. Glink. Thanks again, everyone, Kris
Guest guest
Kris, good luck with getting your son the help he needs. An 'internet' friend of mine has two sons with disabilities. The oldest one, with Aspergers, is a source of great pride for her. The younger one, who has a violent streak (and has no official diagnosis yet) has a juvenile record and has assaulted his older brother. My friend will not allow him to get away with this and does have him arrested. She is hoping this will help get her son a diagnosis and the help he needs. Guest guest
Hi Kris, My son's psychiatrist is Dr. Lucy Ibrahim. Her phone number is 630 292-4141. Drew was an inpatient at Adventist Hinsdale Hospital and is now in the partial program from 9-3 weekdays for a couple of weeks. I don't think she maintains a private practice outside of these programs but not sure. If distance is reasonable you might call her office and ask. Drew is on Medicaid and that wasn't a problem. While I think she may not have special training in autism spectrum disorders she is very good at med mgmt which I've found to be the cornerstone on which everything else relies. Good Luck.
