Check with the county you will be moving into to find out how long waiting lists are for specific services that you will be needing. I know that here in Wisconsin it is easy to get one type of waiver but some others have long waiting lists. Karyn
Guest guest
Thanks , I need to look in on this. I'm no multimillionaire but since this regression happened with my daughter at 19 months I have had to cut down to 20 hours a week of work from home. I sounds like a sweet job (and it is) but I can't work when I am in therapy and end up staying up late and getting up real early just to make sure all the bills get paid. I sure wish that my daughter had a predictable naptime. I NEED ONE! You all have been great and helpful. > > Hi Judy, the medicaid waiver is based on the childs needs and income > like if > > she gets s.s.i or something they don;t base it on the parents at > all or we > > would never get anything.Take my advice on the 20 hours of therapy > they said > > your daughter needs get as much as you can we don't do a.b.a or > anything, but > > private speech an o.t. twice a week along with pre-school four days > a week 2 > > hours a day is making such a difference for her i will get more > private > > therapy as soon as the medicaid waiver comes through. What types of > behaviors > > an things is your daughter doing or what are the traits that make > her midly > > autisic if you don;t mind me asking sometimes people can give you > better > > advice based on that information. Guest guest
I am new to the waiver crap myself... We been on the list for 4 yrs and been fighting for the last 3 months to get it NOW... I want a nurse to help out with all the medical stuff. Found out they only really do medical supplies(diapers, wipes, creams, equiment, computers, alarms, fence)Also will do modifaction*sp* to a home to set up for how you need it. Also respite and job coaching. I am so lost and need help with all this. We live in the WORST STATE #49 to receive services for our children! Thank you GOVENERS of GA!!! Stepping off my soapbox... Medicaid waiver I was wondering if everyone would give each other an idea on what services you have received for your children from the Medicaid waiver? This will help the new families just approved know what they are able to request for their children.I am new to this and it would be a great help to me.I know you can get diapers, equipment (wheelchair, etc),and respite. What are some other things that you personally have got approved for your child.I was wondering if Alarms on our house would get approved? My son is 12 and wanders off.We live 1 block from the lake.Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.Thank you , De from Augusta .....deannalynnga

Guest guest
The Division of Medical Assistance considers on a case-by-case basis if extenuating circumstances justify approval of family members (other than spouses and parents of minor children) as paid caregivers. Did you put your request and the justifications in writing? I would also get letters from others in your child's community (freiends, relatives, church members, neighbors, school) to write letters supporting your request. Guest guest
I just got KB a few months ago and did not realize you could get money to help pay for care. It would be very helpful to be able to pay a trusted neighbor to watch my son so I could go to dr's appointments and things like that. How do you apply for this service? Guest guest
The Beckett Waiver has made your child eligible for Medicaid. Medicaid does NOT pay for respite care. In order to get additional services (i.e., respite, personal support, supplies, equipment, etc.) your child will need a "service" waiver such as the MRWP waiver. Guest guest
I have been admiring from afar, all you are doing to help your children. Thank you for all the wisdom you have shared. We were halted from our respite once the state had notified the respite agency of our medicaid waiver funding. The respite agency refused to pay our workers from June 1st, even though they did not notify us of ceasing our funding until the second week of July....to the tune of $615. We are stuck in a paperwork holding pen while we get going with Access. I am trying not to be discouraged, and we are trying to privately pay to hang on to our workers, so we do not have to start from scratch in looking for new people. I wanted to share this story as in a previous post, someone had stated the intentions of the services, going one from the other, were to be seamless, but the paperwork to " terminate one before the other " creates an abyss. We will keep on keeping on!
