Guest guest
Hi all: If you are inclined to do so, contact your State Senators via phone or email this evening or tomorrow... The following is from IARF (Illinois Association of Rehab Facilities)... We learned in a conversation with Mark and Rob Uhe this afternoon that things are on track for a budget " deal " to be completed by tomorrow. This would allow the votes to be completed for adjournment on Saturday, May 31st which appears to be the goal of both the Senate and the House. We know that the Senate will use the House's request for human service increases as a point of negotiation – in other words to get something they want since the House " growth " budget is higher than their version for community services. So – there are some KEY contacts that must be made in the Senate and several are in your service area. The message is: community DD, mental health and substance abuse services need increased funding. Don't approve a budget without it. You can then be specific about the impact of a flat budget if you choose. Contacts in your service area: Senator Bond Senator Don Harmon Senator Garrett Senator Dan Kotowski Senator Jeff Schoenberg As I mentioned, the " deal " will likely be done by tomorrow afternoon so making these calls immediately would be best. Please keep us in the loop in terms of what you hear back from them. Thanks for your effort here; it's time to start biting our fingernails about the outcome. Janet S.
