Many of us have additional challenges with our children who happen to have disabilities during this joyous but often frenetic time. Schedules and routines change, special family and friends events can cause anxiety and stress. Wald, LCSW,MSW,, will make a repeat visit to IPADDU as a Guest Expert in December. Though I haven't established a specific date with her, I am hoping she will be available to us the second week in December to answer questions and concerns we all may have about how to have a happy, successful holiday season. Ellen Her bio is as follows: has been a social worker for 32 years, primarily in special education. was employed by Northern Suburban Special Education District for twenty years, and this is her eighth year as a school social worker in District # 15 in Palatine. Her caseload for the past eight years has been exclusively children with autism spectrum disorders and their families, but, she has extensive experience across disabilities and age groups. In 's current position she focuses on social skills within the classroom at the pre-school through junior high school levels. She is responsible for parent education and parent support groups for all of the above classrooms as well as doing assessments, consultations, interventions and program development. is actively involved in teaching social work students and presenting at conferences. She is a regular presenter for the son Institute on families with disabilities. worked for the Illinois Assistive Technology and Training Program (IATTAP) in her " spare " time for three years, ending this past year.
