Guest guest
Medicaid Waiver Services has home based services for the elderly. Maximum is 8 hours a day 7 days a week care paid for by Medicaid. Your mother would have to impoverished (under $2000 income/assets) in order to receive the funding from the state. The elderly can use a special needs trust (OBRA D4C pooled trust program) here in Illinois to hold their assets for supplemental care to qualify for such a program. What county does your mother reside in? I do have lists of home care providers for many Chicagoland counties for the elderly and developmentally disabled. Nixon Director Life's Plan Inc. I wondered if any of you might have had a similar situation and/or know where I could check. I currently live in Wisconsin and I know that there is a county agency here that pays people to provide a certain amount of personal cares for seniors or persons with disabilities, depending on their needs and skills. Some of the cares might be from RNs or aides, but family was allowed to do the " non-skilled " cares and be paid. (I got paid when my autistic son was home before residential. ) My mother is paying for services right now, but cannot afford to continue to do that. It seems there would be a similar service in Illinois. --- Does anyone here know of anything like this? or know where I might call to get in the right direction? Thanks for any help. I figure if anyone can answer this, it would be this group. Lee
