Guest guest
Hi Ann, I do accounting out of my home, so I have my daughter set up as a 'company' in QuickBooks. Basically, what you need to do is account for anything paid for from your son's money (SSI and any earnings). What you spend does not have to be reported (save that for income tax purposes so that you can claim him as a dependent). If you have Excel, the easiest thing to do would be to set up a spreadsheet that has check number, date paid, to whom, the amount, and what it was for. Set up a column for his SSI and earnings. Social Security will be sending you a form soon asking for you to account for SSI funds. The cort sent me a forma n requested that I complete a financial reporting on my son. Can any one clarify for me the best way to do this? Is this an accounting of the SSI money? Do I need to try and figure out total cost for care of my son? Or do I only verify how his SSI money was spent as his total costs were much higher than what SSI gives? Does anyone have a template or format they use that can simplify this accounting? Thanks, Ann
Guest guest
Are you the guardian of your son's estate? If so this is probably the & #13; & #10;annual report required of the guardian. I have the forms for Lake & #13; & #10;County, but am not at home. I'll be back Sunday night. Then I can & #13; & #10;send you the forms as well as what I include as an attachment. They & #13; & #10;are looking for an accounting of how all money he has regardless of & #13; & #10;source is spent. & #13; & #10; & #13; & #10;We always include a separate sheet showing all we spend on our son, & #13; & #10;identifying what comes out of our pocket as well. This may not be & #13; & #10;required, but it is very useful when we get in our periodic court & #13; & #10;battles with his mother. She wants to run his life, but not & #13; & #10;oontribute. She has as a hard time accepting he is a 26 yr old young & #13; & #10;man with hopes and dreams. & #13; & #10; & #13; & #10; Fran & #13; & #10; & #13; & #10; & #13; & #10; & #13; & #10;--- In IPADDUnite , marjanca@... wrote: & #13; & #10;> & #13; & #10;> & #13; & #10;> & #13; & #10;> Hello all, & #13; & #10;> & #13; & #10;> & #13; & #10;> & #13; & #10;> I am divorced and have residential custody of our son. Guest guest
What form were you sent? Becareful how you fill things out for a divorced spouse. I don't know about your situation, but in mine, my ex was trying to stop paying any support for my adult daughter. If you would like, please e-mail me directly and I can give you some thoughts.
