Guest guest
Ellen, and IPADD .. I also heard from ,and he reiterates, the lawmakers are going to be at the townhall meeting to hear and learn about the Blueprint and hear from consumers.. I still hope we can find a few families who have been on PUNS and are in need of services, willing to speak on Monday night because those are the consumers/voters lawmakers need to hear from. This kind of opportunity is rare and we need to use this to the best of our ability. Guest guest
I agree, Cindi. I also agree with Gail...that it would not be useful to sit and listen to legislators making empty promises. Thankfully, that is not what this Townhall meeting is about. Ellen Ellen Garber Bronfeld egskb@... Re: Clarification on Townhall meeting Ellen, and IPADD .. Guest guest
I am planning on going on Monday but will only bring Quentin if he is alright, otherwise he'll stay with Dad. I did not volunteer to speak because we do have the home-based support and Quentin is still in school. I understood you wanted to hear from families still waiting for services. My concern (like many of you) is for adult services when school is over and housing. Thais -- WOW! Homepage (http://www.wowway.com)
Guest guest
I also am going on Monday with my 16 yr. old son w/DS. My friend and her son are also going. We're not speaking because our boys are still in school, but I did want the legislators to see who the Blueprint is really for. I think it's important to put faces and names to our concerns. Guest guest
Thanks! I agree, Liz...though you could speak about what your hopes and dreams are...that helps to inform the legislators about what the needs will be... Ellen Ellen Garber Bronfeld egskb@... Guest guest
Those might be important points to make, Thais; community day programs are scarce and housing is not available to us... After all, though we are both grateful for our home based funding, if our children want to move out (and indeed, Noah does want that), we are not eligible for enhanced funding for residential options outside of our home, which means, essentially that our children are trapped in our homes, without the means to move out, unless we can afford to pay privately... You might want to consider testifying...hopefully, closing some institutions will free up some money that might open up possibilities in the future for more housing opportunities.... Guest guest
I'll be there. I do not know if my son will come, but I'll bring a big photo. Bring a photo of your kid if you don't bring your kid! -Gail From: fpalluauwowway (DOT) com <fpalluauwowway (DOT) com> Subject: Re: Clarification on Townhall meeting IPADDUnite@gro ups.com Date: Thursday, December 4, 2008, 3:40 PM I am planning on going on Monday but will only bring Quentin if he is alright, otherwise he'll stay with Dad. Guest guest
I would agree with Ellen ... feel encouraged to speak about your dream and fears for the future.. Your voice is very important. All voices are, but the lawmakers need to know why youcome out on a cold night. I look forward to seeing all the cyber friends. cindi
Guest guest
Great idea about the photo, Gail. I have done that. It is very effective. Ellen Ellen Garber Bronfeld egskb@...
