Guest guest
Thanks for sharing that lovely tidbit, . Just when I thought life couldn't get any goofier, it does! L. SSI Warning I just received a letter from the Social Security Administration asking I contact them by today. When I didn't get a return call, I dropped in today to see what was up and spoke with a different representative. They want to see the bank statements from my daughter's checking account for the last two years. I just got off the phone with my representative (she wasn't informed that I was already there) to set up an appointment. I asked her why the info was needed and she said it was because my bank reported that the account earned $75 in interest last year! I almost freaked (her usual interest earnings are less than $1). Well it seems that the $75 cash back for opening up a new account is reported as interest! SSA wanted to make sure my daughter didn't have a huge unreported account. The rep had estimated that an account would need about $10,000 to receive that interest! So ------ if you open up an account for your child and you receive a cash back bonus, SSA is going to ask to see the bank statement!
