Dear Families and Providers:

 

President-elect Obama has created an exciting opportunity for each of us to

participate in the health care reform process. He and his Secretary of Health

and Human Services, Tom Daschle, are encouraging people to hold health care

reform discussions around the country before the end of the year. We would like

to invite anyone who has had difficulty accessing the medically necessary

therapy services they require to attend a meeting--this is an opportunity for

your voice to be heard! We will be submitting a summary of our town hall meeting

to Washington and Secretary Daschle even plans to attend several events planned

by people like us.

The scheduled town hall meeting is Friday, 12/19 at 12-2:00 PM at the University

of Illinois Chicago Medical Center located at 1919 West , Rm 315, Chicago

(just south of the Eisenhower expressway at Damen, and near public

transportation (the blue line and Damen bus). There are meters and a parking lot

next to the building (for a fee). If you are unable to attend conference calling

will be made available and we can provide instruction on how to call in before

Friday.  In the meantime, please feel free to contact us for more information or

We had very little time to give advance warning as you may be able to tell from

the below link which explains more details of how the Federal government is

planning to hear the concerns. This is not sponsored by any health profession,

institution or agency, this is a forum for those directly affected by lack of

access or payment for necessary therapy services to have their concerns be heard

and for suggestions to be offered.

 

If you are unable to attend but would like to participate in a meeting such as

this, please consider organizing one near your area and refer to the below

website link. These must occur between 12/15 and 12/31/08. Over one thousand

people are hosting forums.
