Guest guest
I am enclosing an e-mail in the hopes that some of you may be moved to help our troops. I hope that I have not angered anyone by including something so off topic. There are so many suffering right now, but here is a way we can help. Chantelle Porter Dear Neighbor, SUBJECT: I THOUGHT YOU'D LIKE TO KNOW THAT OUR TROOPS ARE ENDURING COLD WEATHER AND NEED WARM CLOTHING! As the cold weather comes upon us, I felt compelled to write you this letter. My name is Heriberto and I live in the Timber Creek Subdivision of Naperville. My younger brother Abel is currently deployed with the US Marines in Iraq and has made several calls requesting that we send him warm socks, and thermal underwear. The first time he requested it, my family thought nothing of it and simply sent the requested items. It wasn't too much later that he called again and informed us that he was spending his nights sleeping in the desert, and that the tents weren't providing much protection from the cold, brisk and blustery weather. According to Globalsecurity.org, " the average temperatures in Iraq range from higher than 48 degree C (120 Fahrenheit) in July and August to below freezing in January. " I thought you'd like to know that our troops are enduring cold weather and need warm clothing. What I'm proposing is that if you're willing to buy some warm socks, thermal underwear, warm hats/gloves, hand warmers etc… I will organize and pay for the delivery of the items. As most Americans, my family wants to do our part in supporting our troops and we ask that if you could help, please do so. I've tried contacting my Congresswoman Judy Biggert to ask for help and clarification on what's going on and why the troops are not getting the supplies they need. I've not received any response via email or from my attempts to reach her at her office in DC. So rather than keep working the phones, I thought I'd reach out to you my neighbors, family, and friends to see if together we can attempt to make the cold weather a little more tolerable for some of our troops. My brother is fortunate and has a family that can quickly respond to such requests. What about the other soldiers? I've started doing some " web " research and have found several websites describing the same situation; most in the mountains of Afghanistan but still the same frustrations with the cold weather. So please consider the purchase of the items described above and drop them off at my home by December 15th so that we can ship it over to our troops. Please call me if you have any questions, my home number is (630) 922-9119. What we need: Warm socks, thermal underwear, hats, gloves, and hand warmers! When do we need it: Right away but let's try and have it by December 15th Where can I drop them off: 712 le Ct, Naperville IL (Just off of 95th and Plainfield/Naperville Road) Respectfully yours, Heriberto (Ed) --------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------- This message w/attachments (message) may be privileged, confidential or proprietary, and if you are not an intended recipient, please notify the sender, do not use or share it and delete it.
